thanks ron, i will have the engine rebuilt,
rods
new piston rings
bearings
headgasket
cam belt kit
oil pump
water pump.
my plan is just to build a solid stage 2 engine, no further plans for more power apart from turning boost back up and maybe running wmi. work will start in the new year

Did you get the bearings with the rods and will they be the calico coated ones?
i will be going oem with the bearings, for what i want i was advised that oem are more than good enough. coated ones for big power.

Looks a good device sam you rate that more than a liquid gauage

well it looks better and for logging its also better. both types have there plus and negative sides. its having a nice big touch screen in higher res that won me over.

Looking good sam, what have you capped peak boost too in a bid to save your rods.
I cap peak boost to around 21 psi, a lot of stage 2 well sorted cars boost well beyond the map sensor and get huge brief torque spikes.

Fantastic update, hats off to you for you approach you're taking. You've really made this car your own.

You're going to end up with a bullet proof stage 2 LCR. This car is pretty much the blueprint i intend to use for mine.

That gauge looks top notch, a nice alternative to the liquid gauge. Definitely something i'll considered for the future. Keep up the good work. :)

EDIT

I'd love to hear what your car sounds like, seriously considering a De-cat system for the near future. Dont suppose you have any video's of the exhaust?

update, vi performance gauge pod now finished

hello all, not been on for a couple of weeks now, pc was down due to a virus.
anyway just a few things to report.
Car went for a MOT on tuesday and passed with flying colours :)
also i ordered some engine bay fancy bolts :)

bling bling

secondly i have now finished making my mount for my new gauge, i made if from mdf and sprayed the inside black and wrapped the front with in matt black to give the perfect finish (oem)
heres a few pics from start to finish

heres my cardboard version

then i made a mdf version

here is the finished part, wrapped and sprayed black on the inside

my mrs bought the gauge for my birthday and thats not untill december so im not aloud to fit it to my car yet, but anyway here is the mount fitted

i think i did a pretty good job making it look oem and also the fit is perfect so im pleased with it. the best bit is, cost me under £5 to make :)
comments welcome

I think that looks spot on.

How have you attatched it to the centre consol? I can see it's floating so just wondering how you've made it secure :)

I may need to invest in some of these:D are they M6 screws?

Good news on the MOT front mate and nice job with the ashtray gauge mount:clap:
yeah i love it when it passes the mot with no issues, the screws are m6. thanks
Love the gauge mount
thanks mark

if you look at the finished pic, you can see i have kept the fixing part from the ash tray, the mount is screwed, glued and wrapped on to it. its very strong and has zero play.
Well done mate, that's looking really good!

thanks tom

hi willy, sorry i missed your post, my boost is capped at 1.4 bar (20psi) so thats pretty low for stage 2 but still making impressive figures :)

After 2 and a half years of being on the site  Cars looking awesome Sam
i know im naughty :p
They look good mate, wonder who gave you that idea

I have the same non slip mate in mine too
