Excellent news.
I've never scrimped and saved on tyres and never had any handling issues with them on the road.
But on the track tyre wall flex on the limit was noticeable. I've not been on the track since fitting my R888's but am sure this feeling thought to be flex will have gone.
Falkens are not in the same league as Toyos and the other.
But still a GYE + Michelin man, cannot fault the GYE summer tyres and the Michelin winter tyres
Totally agree.

Falkens were fine for a 195bhp tdi and shock and spring setup. Now the requirements are different so the toyo's fit the bill.

I can't wait mate, I think we should get good gains if neuspeed are right by how much more it flows :)
I dont think there will be gains at all but we will see.

TBH it sounds like you guys are at the top of what is capable from your set ups so would doubt there are big gains to be gotten from just changing a restrictive pipe, but hope there is for you.

Sounds very exciting.
TBH you'll need a diff to get the best out of that set up, not that you really need an excuse to get one.
I'm just away to order one tomorrow:):)

Pancake Replacement #The Return
------

Brad1 twisted my arm and showed me a great and the ideal solution to get rid of the pancake completely.

Brad1 and I both order this:
pancakereplacement.jpg

Its a like for like replacement so not cutting or modifying required. Purchased from the US so should arrive in a couple of weaks. As for it making a difference here is a snippet from Neuspeed who make an identical product

The stock pancake pipe flows 355cfm at 25 ft of water on a flow bench. In comparison, the round NEUSPEED pipe flows 426cfm at 25 of water

I expect exactly the same results with this pipe but 1/3 the price.
Talk about quick delivery it arrived this morning.

Another great detail and write up Jonjay. I've really enjoyed reading your thread. I can't say that I’ve ever paid much attention to diesels, believing them to be 'just reliable, economical and not at all performance orientated. How wrong could I have been?:ban:(sorry). Mds's thread was just as enlightening.

I look forward to seeing how you get on with your future plans. Love the stance of your car!

Hi James. Thank you very much for taking the time to read through the whole thread. Always inspires me to carry on when people enjoy the project.

MDS thread is excellent, he was a real inspiration to a lot of TDI owners.

As for future stuff...well lets say the car will be taken to the next level. Just planning now with Kenny@AmD as he will be helping me with this next phase of the project.

December Update and Beyond
-----

Just when I thought I was out it drew me back in...

Purchased 20 T-Bolt Clamps to replace the jubalee clips. I havent got any problems with them but its a worth while upgrade nevertheless.

As per my previous update I purchased a tubular pancake replacement pipe. The edges need to be swaged before fitting more so will be taking a trip to custom exhaust specialist, Hayward and Scott. Whilst I am at there I will be asking/planning about certain improvements to the exhaust and boost pipe system I currently have. Their work will be costly as their work is outstanding however it will be worth every penny and make things ready for the next step.

I also noticed I have a boost leak which is being sorted soon. Car still feels savagely fast but might explain why figures at last RR werent as good on paper as before.

March time will see full service, cambelt and water pump being done even though the car has only done 33k, it will be 5 years old. The rear brake pads will also need doing March so they will get an upgrade to DS2500s.

After the March or before I am planning to get the engine head flowed and Kenny@AmD has suggested I consider him playing with watermeth and map tweaking. There are lots of other plans but I will post as they come.

December Update and Beyond #2
-----

Dropped off the spare LCR wheel for refurb today. Picking it up next Saturday so should have a lovely shiny spare wheel instead of the ugly space saver. Also the T-bolts fit nicely around the existing pipework.

I also booked the car in for for week commencing 11th Jan 2010 for some really nice bits of work on her ;)

No problem mate just let me know when your ready.

Sounds like you are going to be busy next year with the car then Maz. What kind of gains are you looking at with all the mods?
Alex
Yea it will be a busy year next year. Not really got any specific figures in mind however I am looking to improve the power delivery and get the torque holding as much as possible through the rev range.

Watermeth kit is being sized up. Already got backing from kenny@amd to go ahead with this for next year - were not sure what gains are to be had but they are meant to be pretty impressive for deisels.
