Replaceing the water pump

Hey,

Cheers for that. Got a quote from Seat Kings of Croydon and it will be about 2.5 hours work and about £200 labour! Fantastic!
How much did you pay?

Cheers

you have to take top part of the mounting off and remove the three bolts from the part of the mounting on the block and move the mounting to the side as it is a pain to remove. theres not much room and timing belt can be tight to get back on. i dont like doing them on a ramp at the best of times let alone on the floor the diesels are easier than the 18s

My Cupra R is doing the same thing! It started after i had water leaking in to the passenger footwell. The car is being serviced on monday so hopefully they can fix it.

Mine was in last Friday having both fans replaced and it seems to have done the trick :) The dealers said they have had to do this for several other Cupra Rs and it seems that only the Rs are affected. I hope the new fans last a bit longer then 20k miles... but I won't be holding my breath.

Got my car back from Kings of Croydon

Hey,

It was indeed the impeller that went, they geve me the part back and the impeller was in three bits. I asked them to change the cam belt, rolers etc at the same time. It took 4 hours @ 80 then just over 100 for the cam belt and bits. £20 for the coolant

Total in VAT was £550!

They did clean it for me mind! :-/

look at the good points at least most of you are sorted and none of you require engines. just took a head of a cupra r leon after overheating and the head is damaged and the turbo has blown, its a good job its a lease car but its out of waranty so lease company picks up the bill thats if they have it done. the vehicles got loads of mods and the stereo is dearer than my car. plus its a right bloody job.

Mine appears to have just gone, booked in wednesday.

Having cambelt done 20k miles early, and tensioner. Total cost £315 + VAT, at main dealer.

I work in a dealership group ( non SEAT) , and £80 per hour is seriously piss-taking

Mine is going in tuesday to have fans replaced, only noticed the air raid thing on Wednesday morning. Big thanks to frosts portslade again for a no messing about professional approach. Told service guy about the fault he took me to a technichian to explain it to him and straight away " That'll be the fans! seems to be an R thing. "
Good to have a dealer that knows what there doing and a free 40A fuse too just in case.

Hi All

Glad I used the search function ..... my 03 LCR started to have the same problem where the Fans cut in at high speed for no apparent reason but always when i'm going v.slowly with the aircon on... they never used to do it and make a hell of a noise... booked in to be checked at Seat Listers Coventry on Monday....

yet again this forum really helped....

Listers Cov fixed mine so hopefully they will get it sorted.

:-( just back from Seat Listers Cov.. apparently nothing is wrong with my car even though the fans (v.noisy) keep turning on and off while going slowly with aircon on... went out on the road with a Seat technician and he said its supposed to do that... strange cos it never used to !!!!!
