Good stuff. Im in the process of gathering some more equipment, parts cleaner, engine lift (after my last one got stolen), engine stand etc then ill be joining in the fun :).
Good that you have a mate that can do that like, i bet a lot of people wish they did haha. What size bore you getting? Im just watching everything you do from here on so that i can get tips haha.
Hopefully be starting a job soon which funnily enough is building engines so hopefully ill be fine when i get around to doing it.
Whats your plans with steering? Keeping manual rack or changing out for quick rack? Keeping abs brakes? How far are you going with weight loss?

Good stuff and congrats on the new job, hopefully it comes off for ya

I need a better engine crane lol I've got the old fashion 3 legged thing.
It's about 10ft tall and have to push the car in and out lol.

Yeah is lucky he also one of my best customers at work so hopefully he'll squeeze it in for me soon.

Manual rack will stay for now wanna get the rest sort handling wise. Keep abs brake I'd love a hydraulic handbrake tho :D
Weight loss, as light a poss really :) gunna get the heater out and the stuff under the carpet and the sound Deading and get it weighed and go for there really.

What you thinking with yours :)

Cheers bud.
Haha at least it works. Mine was a proper one but then got stolen by 'mates'
Ah so kinda works for you both, hope to see progress pics of it all soon!!
Ok, i wondered if you would maybe get rid of the abs and go old fashioned with that too, maybe not such a great idea when itll be so light haha.

Erm, well hopefully get a family car soon (its a nightmare having to put a car seat in an ibiza haha) then mine is getting stripped, all sound deadening removed, engine out, wmi, bigger injectors, remap, colour change etc etc haha. Then start building a spare engine :)

Would be good having no abs, but being so light and front brakes so big might just lock up, But maybe with a uprated floor mounted pedal box

I'm thinking of a second car to take me towing licence with, but would mean giving up me work van or finding a unit (which is more money and I don't wanna fall into a trap of taking the Cupra to bits and it not going back together lol)

Colour change? What colour would ya like? How is yours now? Stop smoking?

The mk2 dash panel lol

Yeah that was the idea to start with lol

But it curves quite a lot and wasn't sure how to get a clean finish with fixing it to the facia, thought about riveting it on but always stuck up in the centre.

Im working on it tho :)

Use the black mastic that they use to seal in windscreens. I think shorts bombardier use it in some area of construction in their aircraft. I might have soe in the shed, I'll try and check tomorrow it's raining here now and no I'm not a witch. :) It won't move with that stuff. Is your plastic formable. You could mock up a mould and heat up your plastic to form over your mould to create a flat section for the gauges to mate up to so that your curved plastic isn't pulling/gaping away from the flat section of the gauge back.

What is 500k -1000k, wheel treatment?

Let us know where you get your arp stuff from. The site I was on to source head bolts for my tdi was arp.com and was so many dollars working out about £150 :-o

Haha now thats just getting too complicated now haha
Yeah towing licence would be handy, why would you have to give up the van? Too much motors sat at home?
Thats the problem, i always feel like im going to lose interest and not put it back together, but i have my mates to push me on :)

Yeah, going very unique with it, bmw sparkle grey metallic ;)
Erm its ok, keep getting eml since removing carbon can. Yeah its still smoking but not every time, only once every few days :s, im just going to keep ragging it until my large port is built up after xmas haha

Yeah that's windscreen sealant is good stuff lol the rivets have worked well tbh no gaps showing or anything.

£500-£1000 quid lol I meant instead of spending nearly 1K on valves springs and head work im gunna buy wheels :D ill do valve eventually but just wanna get it running and do valves etc later.

Ill use Bill tbh for bits like that. Good service and even if I could get em cheaper else where I'd have more confident I'd be getting the right parts and Honest advise.
If what I was buying wasn't going to work id respect someone saying it and listen to what would so id defo pay abit extra for that (if it was)

Yeah defo be handy to have. Yeah to many motors at me house with an angry violent old git over the road from me.

Colour sound a good :)
Have you removed all the pipes from the TIP and throttle body? You got the sensor plugged in?

That's a lot better

Yeah loads better lol

Do you need a license to tow a trailer or is a set size of trailer? I seen some of Bill's stuff on ebay like the intake manifold thick gasket. It's not a bad price but I've got to get the engine running right first before I think about goodies. I just thought it might be a good idea to strengthen the head while I was at it but £300 for a custom gasket and arp head bolts is out of the question when you can scoop an engine for £100 in the right place. £250 in other places.

Ahh, cheers for that buddy. Good bit of info there.
Im running a catch can setup but i cant remember how its all run to be honest so id have to check tomorrow.
What setup are you running pcv wise? To be honest, id like to do as much as possible to get my car running the best possible. The guy i bought the car from seemed very clued up, and at first glance his work looked top notch.... Until you dig in. A lot of his work seems to be rushed in a way and just done quickly and very untidy.
Going to take as much tips as possible to sort everything out :)

Don't mind at all mucka more help the better defo.

I guessed you wouldn't be running one being BT and having a NOn standard tip. It's like a little black mushroom filter thing lol

What made me think was a mate of mine has a MK5 golf gti and had the revo blanking hardware on it (fitted this the same time he fitted a 2011 S3 engine with a hybrid K04 TFSI completely forged bottom end and head) and it has always smoked (bluey like valve stems had gone-smoke disappeared and came back randomly)

Spent ages trying to figure out what was going on. Spend 100 quid on a valve stem tool that allows you change the seals with out removing the head aswell but before we started pulling them out we swop the oem setup back on and it has stop the thing smoking.
Think bill has touched this subject in his mk2 Leon thread about it venting it out the exhaust.

I know its different engine but maybe something to look at?

It all runs from the oil filter housing to the rocker cover and he tip from seat.

There is thermal expansion issues with the forged engine components. Some cologne v6 engine builders don't prefer them due to them expanding and binding. Consequentially they are undersized and can pass oil/smoke to start with until warmed up. This was ages ago I read this. Has my memory served me well? Can someone concur my ideas. :).

I'm the wrong person to ask what my setup is. I have boost leaks, a knackered cam chain tensioner and a cracked rocker cover but on the upside I fitted a new back box to my aunt's tdci fusion today.

Ahh ok, well ill have to give it a proper look over. Would you have any pics of how yours is set up so that i can compare and hopefully get rid of any problems. I am having problems with my catch can anyway, got a new one to fit as the home made bodge catch can thats on just now keeps getting clogged up, then spewing out onto my gearbox etc. its bolted down right behind the power steering reservoir in the middle of nowhere haha

That looks identical to how mines is done. See the hose which comes off your can and goes around behind your pas bottle (guessing outlet), where does that go to? Atmosphere? Tip? Mine has a filter on it which i hate. Also what size ports are on your can? I have a new one to go on but not sure if the ports will be too small/ restrictive
