K04 MK3 Ibiza Cupra Track Ready - RIP

Off work for a week so thought I'd clean up my head and get a few bits sorted.

Took the block off the engine stand. This has to show progress as it hadn't moved in a year i think haha

Block and head are to the machine shop soon. I'm going to drop the valves get it skimmed etc fit new valves stems and build back up. The block is being made to accept the 82.5mm pistons :D

Good stuff. Take the girl out a day, all work and no play makes chambers a dull boy:) . That's what the wife tells me but it's too late. :D

If you weren't going to get the cylinder over bored would you need to put a heavy lube in the bores to stop it rusting up?

Is it going to be the same throw on the crank with the same length of con rod?

Haha

Other than lightly honing the bores in the summer I've not touch them tbh, has got any surface rust on nor the cranks, heads or cams I've got kicking about. My garage don't get cold or damp may that has helped.

Engine was same throw yeah 144x20 rod using the 1.8T crank now as I don't wanna make it like a diesel lol.

Looks like you will be having loads of fun in your time off ;)

Yeah haha get some things done aswell.

How's yours no updates I see:confused:

Started with some weigh removing lol

Rear half of the carpet and some seat belt fixings

Then removed the seat and some sound deading

Coming on mucka. Surprising how much that shite weighs is it. Are you going to remove the sound deadening mat stuff in behind the dash aswell?

To much time on your hands lol

Paint it now ;)

Yeah haha use it or lose holiday entitlement lol

Yeah will paint it just not sure on colour?

Yeah weights loads only did half the tunnel and the passenger side and filled a sainburys carrier bag haha. I enjoy taking it up tho haha heat gun on max a gasket scraper tin of brake cleaner and micro fibre cloth makes it easy haha.

Yeah I will remove the stuff behind the dash eventually. Looking at wheels as well atm :)

Glass fibre wings and bonnet. Then cut out the roof and roll the edges, forget proper fabrication term, and bond a thin abs/grp skin in place. I took the sump off the bottom of my ahu engine to inspect the crank and rods. I seen a figure 142 I think it was on the underside of the piston and 55 punched on to the conrod bigend bearing cap. A longer conrod with smaller crank makes for higher revving engine and a larger crank with shorter conrods makes for a longer piston travel making more torque but less revs and less power. Sorry couldn't help the mind wander:).

Let it wander mucka :)

Think the set up I've gone for should be just right :) same crank throw and rod length just bigger bore :)

Colour I'd just do it simple black or imp blue

Yeah was thinking just a satin black maybe as the Holts colour match imp blue is fairly expensive lol

I know

But alot has been going on & ive been taking pics ;)

Im off work from the 15th of Dec until next year so i will take time to update then :D

I guessed you had been tinkering from how it looked at the meet, but December is a long way away (all tho it'll come round fast) so update sooner :p

Bit more done today :) I love being off work.

First I changed my track rod ends as I had a knackered one. (No pics strangely haha)

Then I strip and cleaned the rest of the sound deading under the drivers seat and rear seats.

Bit of rust under the drivers side which was a bit disappointing to find :(

Removed some plastic trim clips, was lazy when I yanked out the plastics

Got rid of the Ariel wire as it was hanging down in me rear view mirror.

Need ARP Main and head stud kits. Also need ARP cam and crank pulley bolts, luckily they do a kit :D which is cheaper than buying them separately. Oh and a clutch, flywheel and a crank pulley and 4 oil squirters.
Then the bottom end can go together lol thinking about having the Crank lightened and balanced too :D

I'm in no rush, planing on getting some track time (open pit lane) in January, wanna do a few next year at least not including the Nurburg ring trip :D
