BT seems to be the way forward with longer standing LCR owners now
If you need a spare block i still have an APY one from the S3 cluttering up my shed

on the edge of reason
hey sam, hows things?
wicked progress on the car mate! it must be an animal and a real tyre shredder.
wish i had the space and time to take my lump to bits and rebuild it.
looking through the photos is really inspiring.
did you go to japfest? i was there with a few mates. how badly does it make you want a rear wheel drive car!!
the bug seems to have bitten me again and this time round i'm sorting the handling to match the performance.
if you were starting again what order would you do things?
coil overs first then arbs then lsd?
lsd then coils?
or maybe start by poly bushing and uprated engine mounts?
any advice greatly appreciated mate.
hope to see you around sometime.
adam. :D

just gave the car a good clean, i now have some better pics where you can notice the new mirrors.

Mate, I love your care, just brought myself a black leon, and want to refurb the wheels. Mines not lowered, which I think it needs to be for white wheels.

My question is what colour are the wheels on your car? I thought they were white, but they may be high silver.

I think that colour is spot on as I am caught between white and silver?

Cheers
Cpt.

hello all, not really an update
i have been thinking of future plans for my car. seeing as its capable of taking big power im thinking why not?
so im going down the k04 hybrid route just to test and prove that the new relentless hybrid is a great reliable turbo.
After this i will be going bt. well not really big but im after 400bhp max so turbo wise im looking at a GT2871. want something with quickish spool and 400bhp. i will build this up on a spare block and hopefully transfer it to my car with not too many issues. other plans are a uprated clutch, probably the awesome gti kit. then i will be looking at diffs. this will be a slow project due to limited funds and other commitments but should be fun and a big learning curve i hope [B)]
peace out

A 2871 won't get you a true 400hp IMO. You need to look at gt30 frame turbos, possibly a gt3071r internal gate on a log mani, it's a lot less work than tubular and external gate.
I suppose it's all down to budget at the end of the day.

Hello,

I have to say that this is one of the nicest Leon Cupra Rs I have seen, excellent example. Had mine for 2 weeks, and still trying to do little bits. Its got standard wheels, and Im torn between white and silver. Your cars wheel colour is very interesting, also very nice rims. Mine are standard, but I cant stop looking at that colour. Please, put me out of my misery, what is it?

Hello sam,
Just reading your thread and the rebuild process. As you know i will be buying very similar parts (minus the exhaust valves). Just interested in how exactly you ran the engine in? I take it you are driving at low revs for a couple hundred miles, then medium revs after that, then a few high revs to get the engine back to its best....i have never had a brand new engine, and certainly never a rebuilt one so i havent a clue. All i know is you have to be gentle.

I think alot like you do with regard to the car, i dont wanna break it. Had it 6 years and want it another 6 lol. I could atm just floor my car everywhere as it is MILES faster than my old stage 1, but secretly im waiting to hear a huge bang lol. My payday cant come soon enough then all the rods, head gasket. and timing belt kit will be fitted and i can enjoy it properly.

Great car dude its a credit to you.

Hi bret, sorry for the slow reply, i am currently in hospital:( been here since friday. As i understand your car has pretty low miles on it, correct? If so you wont need to change the piston rings and you wont need to run the car in. I changed the rings because i just hit 100k but to be honest my old ones were perfect with no wear. Same with my rod bearings, still looked new after 100k :)
These engines when looked after just stay mint, its the rods that let them down. I had the same feeling you currently have about rods, so i fitted them. Now i have no worries. Worth every penny

Thanks Sam,
Yeh she sitting on 49k and running great. Just been peaking very high lately around 1.7- 1.8 bar, but holding just over 1.5 bar right up the rev counter. Its tons faster, and because i have set my defi gauges to give me a warning chime at 1.8 bar, its all i hear when i floor it.

The car is only on a 'tame' boost 6 and timing 4. Does this mean a)i have a healthy turbo and good airflow, or b) a knackered N75? Getting my boost turned down before rods....lol just means i will get a crappy RR figure at AmD next month.

Saw you were in hospital on FB buddy, hope you make a speedy recovery dude.

there have not been any reported v2 manifolds crack with the reinforced welds. also many many v2 have sold and only a small number of them have had issues, dont ever hear from the people who dont have issues :)
