Ronin, while i'd love to see this current project of yours run to fruition, if i had the option to get a RS4, i wouldn't have to think twice about it.Its a totally different driving expienence, outside the engine department its in a different league.

Cheers for the input guys, the RS4 is definitely a more grown up and subtle car
The original plan was to make the leon an insane beast to **** virtually anything and be my mental pocket rocket before i become really old and sensible but learn lots from it
If i were to buy an RS4 the money i currently spend on modifying would be consumed in the higher running and maintenance costs so it would stay virtually standard
I had a bit of a blast last night in LCR after a lengthy chat about RS4's and did enjoy it, probably also pushed my tyres into illegal terriority, so need to order some pronto

The RS4 I drove belonged to a mate of mine. I had a sneaky look at the long-term MPG average, it was showing 22.4mpg. He definitely doesn't baby his cars and he'd had it a couple of months when I got a go so if his average was still low 20's then I'd say that's not as bad as a lot of folk think, the FSI motors are pretty frugal for what they are. My long-term average in the LCR at that time wasn't a lot better, maybe 25.

Aside from fuel, standard tyres are 19" so a bit higher than LCR-sized rubber but not brutally expensive. Post-March '06 cars will tax at the high rate (£435 I think?) but there are pre-06 ones to be had. Aside from the DRC recall and the intake coking there aren't a lot of other serious known issues to bite. Most cars are now a few years old so full Audi service history is less of an issue, find and use a decent Indy and save a bit on service costs.

That was the attraction for me too, bloody quick but more "grown-up". I love my LCR but I can see how some folk would say modified hot-hatches are a bit neddy. Not saying I agree necessarily but the appeal of a bit more refinement is there for me too. EDIT - If I get one I'll be keeping it standard, maybe an exhaust to let that V8 sing tho

Well after much thinking this week, i have finally decided the future of the car.
Although the RS4 is a nice grown up car i dont think i have grown up enough to settle for it, i still want something quick enough to catapult me to illegal speeds in a flash and embaress some exotic machniery.
So for now the leon is staying, in a couple of years time i may look to upgrade to an RS4 and will take a very jamjay approach if i sell the leon - 'if you wont look after it or abuse it, i wont sell it to you'
But back on with todays update, finally had some nice enough weather to wash the car and meet with barn for a couple of photos

I took a couple of photos of the wheels close up to try to show the variety and change of colour

I also got my mum to take some photos of them with a proper camera for those who asked and for the powdercoater so will put them up once i get them.
Also been in contact with someone who is selling lots of BTCC parts (cheers graham)

Glad to hear it's staying! Nice pictures, wish I could see the wheels irl! I'm having mine powder coated this week, not such a fancy colour though.. Are the wheels et 38? What spacers are you running?

They are the standard OE so not sure of the offset but thought id go for something a little different from the norm
I'm running a 10mm spacer on the back and nothing on the front
What colour are you going for?

Ok. Need to get some spacers for the rear at least.
Colour is kept a secret until done.. But it will be some shade between black and white!

Cheers guys, i have been thinking of changing the colour of brakes and was thinking of going silver
It'll be the opposite of what it used to be - silver wheels with red calipers then red wheels with silver calipers

Awaiting delivery of 2 new tyres to replace the worn out fronts in the next few days so i can black them then, also the road down to that spot was very dusty (lame excuses i know)
