If we go to any shows i'll have to take you out for a spin, t0m
I have to give a lot of the credit to phill for the rear beam as after seeing how much work went into it i wouldnt want to attempt it on my own
May try and get a detail in before the end of the year so maybe in touch tom
Barn you know you need some poly in your life

Nice one mate :)

Polybushing is happening on mine early November now.. Was going to be October, but I'm getting some replacement wheels now, lol.

Should feel great once it's poly'd up underneath!

Very long weekend just gone, with over 540 miles of driving between saturday afternoon and sunday night.
A 7 hour solid trip to and from great yarmouth on sunday which nearly saw the car overheat in gridlock traffic too. Had 105 degree coolant temps and was starting to panic so on the hottest day in october on record i am sat in a traffic jam with heaters on full blast and windows open, sat there sweating like a dyslexic on countdown.
If anyone has any input into why it got that high i'd be grateful as plenty of coolant in expansion tank
But the reason of the trip was to collect more pieces for my big turbo conversion.
After browsing a few other forums and vagcat i found that the largeport heads on some older audi' and VW's are interchargeable with my smallport head but have different cams, etc due to them not having VVT.
After watching the dirty bay and bidding on a few that went for many £ (mostly AGU's) i managed to pick up a nice cheap AEB head complete with cams, etc.
The bottom end of the car had destroyed itself and just lightly knocked some of the valves out of shape, good old vag rods.
Anyway being as the head will be rebuilt with new valves, springs, etc only the casting is really required and hopefully be mated to an SEM and nice big TB.
So a few pics of yet another thing to add to the pile

Will try and keeping it lightly coated in oil to prevent any corrosion whilst waiting to be rebuilt

Not sure the fans were going mental, so thats not a good sign either, some forum scouring is in order i think
The dyslexic on countdown was one of the cleaner ones of the phrases

Booked friday off ready for my MOT and things dont look to good
Got home today to find no brake lights, checked with vagcom and surprise surprise intermittent fault on the switch, so cleared for now and will do again just before MOT to limp it through until i get a new one.
Also the dreaded 16804 - cat fault. this one keeps reappearring every few weeks, still only running OE map but have a full BF turbo back system with 100 cell race cat but really worried on emissions now.
If exhaust gets nice and warm it does tend to get bangy which is obviously not good for the cat, i hope i havnt killed it?
My wipers are superb at just spreading water across the screen and not clearing but should hopefully have some aero arms on there way to me anytime soon
Finally i was planning on getting a brake fluid change in at the same time as MOT as my current RBF 600 has been in about 2 years now and it will be on track on the 30th of the month but didnt realise bill was on holiday and been so busy i havent had chance to get time to order it and get it delivered
On a posotive note i changed my knackered sidelights to nice new LED ones and they are still working (as he looks for wood to grab)
Fingers crossed friday will go smooth but i doubt it
