MOT passed for another year YAY!
Keep throwing the cat fault and the other night the brake pedal switch fault.
Reset both and emission were ok first time without the car even being that warm and should have a new switch in a few days too
Just need a brake fluid change and some camber adjustment ready for the trackday on the 30th

Picked my new brake light switch up from phill last night and it was pretty well timed as on the way back it failed again and erasing the fault with vagcom did nothing.
So after getting some stuff from the shop and being followed by a police car this morning trying to make it obvious i was engine breaking instead of using the middle pedal it was time to change it.
Had a look at the guide on here which was helpful then set about it

The culprit nice and visible
After removing the old switch and really struggling to get the connector of i noticed quite a bit of corrosion around one of the contacts, cleaned up the plug end too

VW made quite a difference to the design and size as everybody always comments on

After getting it in and making sure it was working by using the reflection in next doors window to see then coming on, the bloke came out to talk to me
He says he has a polo and the brake lights stop working every few days and hes just been blasting it with contact cleaner as a bodge to keep it going, so scanned his car and same fault so got a switch on order for him too.
Timing of the switch dying was good, a day before MOT but being resetable then the day after completely dying, hopefully that will be the last thing to go for awhile now

I've got the uprated one on mine bud. My old one died quite a few months ago but yours should be fine now for a long time.

A wee update
Car is on the track sunday so had the day off to sort some bits out
Started by taking the car to the garage to have the oil and brake fluid changed, got RBF660 over the RBF600 i have been running the last 2 years, and yes taking it to the garage is supremely lazy
Waterpump is now leaking badly after only 10k but being as stroker is on its way it will get sorted when thats fitted
However he did flag the brakes will be dead by the end of the trackday as theres not much on them now.
Bill maybe getting a phonecall monday morning
I then popped to the tyre place for some alignment since it was only a matter of weeks since me and phill had the rear beam off.
After just about getting on the ramp i had a chat about what setting to go for.
The rear was ok and left alone at the front i decided of the top of my head to increase the negative camber and balance it all even
My negative camber is now 1.3 degrees per wheel, kept the toe straight but they were suggesting adding a bit for the turn in but decided against it
Still need to mount my fire extinguisher but didnt have chance to get any teg screws so might try riveting the frame in tomorrow
So mostly ready and just hoping i dont kill it/crash it on sunday
Phillc is coming with me so he can hopefully grab some pics and we'll see how it goes

stop with the R32 throttle bodies!
get a W8 / W12 / S8 or Porsche 996 turbo unit
better unit and still 75mm
its serviceable!
R32 throttle bodies are NOT serviceable. Methanol will mess them up.
