Also fitted the boot catches
Screenshot_20240818_180601_eBay.jpg

Held them uo to the boot and rough calculations and measuring.
I swapped out the nuts and bolts for stainless version.
Bolted them to the panel under the rear lights .
I then place some clear vinyl where the spring will be.
The little catch where the hook connects on to is ment to be pop riveted to the boot. But as the boot is fibreglass I decided to bolt them instead. I started by drilling out the 3.3mm hole to 4mm and counter sinking it

so now I can fit some m4 stainless counter sunk screws

Put some penny washers on the back and secure with nylock aluminum nuts.

And that's the boot lid secured...... I hope 🤞

Next up I need so.e help guidance and ideas... right I'll try to explane. As its a race car I don't need reverse lights or standard fog lights.. so I only need the lamp clusters in the quarter panel to work.
20240817_234608.jpg

But I feel it looks better with the boot lid mounted lamps in position
20240817_234614.jpg

But due to me being semi lazy...and engineering lightness. If I don't need it it don't get fitted. So I cut the back off the lamp
20240817_234619.jpg

Race car lightning in full action..
As the lens has been in the work shop for years and I been spraying etc. I gave it a quick compound and Polish.
20240817_235724.jpg

But my issue is .. does it look OK with the black body. Or a few ideas I have come up with
1 chrome spray the back of the lamp
2 aluminium tape on the body
3 just stick them on..as they are
Please give me some other ideas.

You could always get some silver/chrome vinyl wrap on the bodywork or you could get some light tint vinyl (in black they are advertised as smoked but they do other colors as well) and cover all the lights (something like this )

Been ages since I got to the workshop. Got some bits from thaiwrong horse. Got mirror , door handles and black locks, and the rear door quarter windows with seals.
So started building uo the doors. Fitting locks and handles .
Fitted the polycarbonate windows. I for got to take photos of how I bolted them in. It was getting late. View attachment 43788 but the semi end result isn't to shabby. But still a long way to go
this thing still looks so cool.

Finished stripping the head. All.studs and unwanted bits are off. Just waiting for the company to get back to me then I can drop it to them for port matching and building.
Got catcams to go in, with double springs , titanium caps and new guides, fcs solid lifters .

Sitting there quite happy. I had a thought... I don't think I have spent any money on that money pit in the work shop.
So I thought and thought... then realised I don't have studs for the head for the inlet manifold.
So I trot off to the workshop.. do some measuring.. and find the sizes I want and the amount I need.
Then it's google searching..
Shiney bit after shiney bit .
That will do...... na it's plated mild steel..... further and further in to the world of Google....
That's them... must have them. They are stainless steel. They will cost more than mild. . But wait. What's that.....
Oooooooo
Aaaahhhhhhh
20240828_192245.jpg

Only bl00dy titanium... I gonna have to remortgage.. .
Some how the card details went in and sent befor I knew what happened...
20240828_192256.jpg

But look how nice they are...
20240828_192305.jpg
look how they going to look against them manifold..
20240828_192317.jpg

Look at them in the head it's all just so purfect..
But then the other half found the invoice......
10 bolts... 10 bl00dy bolt... £65 "f-in" quid
I took my " bolts" and now hiding in the workshop. I thought I would show you lot as you would under stand ...... soooo shiney

Those multi point nuts are a godsend for crappy access studs as they allow a smaller ratchet type spanner to fit on to them.
I have them on mine and also used them on my old AET380 turbo to downpipe studs....sooo much better!

Right life is moving on so fast and stuff is going like mad too. But at the week end I had a little journey down to The car kitchen.

Have a look on his face book.
I dropped off the head , vales, guides, cams, springs, manifolds etc etc.
This man is going to work his magic and wizardry, fit the valves and solid lifters set the gaps and basicly do all the technical stuff I don't have a clue about. Including porting the head and inlet manifolds.
For a very very reasonable price.
If you need any head work done I would highly recommend to talk to Alex at the car kitchen.
Also there some thing he was working on wad an absolute beast of a mini.

BMW motor bike head strapped to a a series engine, then with a turbo for good measure.. the workis amazing and absolute top notch .
I will do some more updates soon as there may ve some changes comming
