Today we tackled fitting a rear window..... a polycarbonate window that was flat not curved like the original.
Started of laying it place and making sure it fits. But at this point I realised that is was just clear.. no black out line.
So I drilled a 6mm pilot hole in each corner and in to the boot lid for line up
20250216_140858.jpg

The ones in the boot lid I then drilled out to 10mm to take a 6mm nutsert. I know it seams to big .
20250216_151913.jpg
But with the windscreen bonder and then pulling round in to a curve it will fit....🤞 test fit with the bolts in the corners holding it down
So holding the window in to position i then draw around the tail gate frame
IMG-20250216-WA0001.jpeg
. . So then I can black out the outer edge using the window primer , but first take of the protective sheet thats on both sides. But just tale of the side your going to bond too
20250216_151604.jpg

To make it look like a normal window. Also run the primer on to the tailgate
IMG-20250216-WA0003.jpeg

Then run a bead of window bonder around the window frame edge on the tail gate. ( and forget to take any pictures )
I marked the top and bottom middles with white board marker on the body work and on the white protective sheet so I could place it straight in to position
Peel the corners back where the bolts go threw and lower in to position. Lining up the markers. And put am m6 bolts i each corner to help pull the flat sheet in to a curve
IMG-20250216-WA0005.jpeg

Personal touch when dryed i took the screws out and filed the holes with bonder and flatteren to make it look pretty

Not to bad considering I never fitted a window before.... youtube is your teacher hahaha

Right.. got some big news. Very big.. but might say that tomorrow .
Any way. Seat fitted and then lined up the steering coloum. I was going to go electric coloum. Lots of reading and youtubing I have decided to to stay hydraulic power steering. But going to run an astra electric pump. Theory being it's not driven the engine hence not taking power from the engine.
But any way peddles also bolted in to position. Steering coloum bracked welded in to position. . Also gear stick positioned and and the nutserted and bolted in to position.

Another parcel delivered . Massive thank you to torques.co.uk
A very impressive twin fuel pump set up and billet filter unit. Absolutely stunning machine. View attachment 47098
Will make a bracket to mount this too the bolt to the car View attachment 47099

I love how with pretty much any road car part, I know exactly what it is and what it does straight away. When it comes to motorsport, I could look at these photos for ages, give you a pile of wrong answers and still not even be close to knowing what that was.

Are you going to fit in car hydraulic or air jacks, seen a couple cupra's with these fitted on track days certainly makes it much easier and quicker to get the wheels changed.

Was looking in to it. If I did it would be a 3 air jack system. 2 at the front either side in the front corner of the foot well and 1 in the middle roughly where the back seats would be.

Interesting, why the 3 post rather than 4 post. I know some of the Porche track motors run the 3 post system.

Fuel tank time. So i got hold of what's known as a bladder tank. Basicly is a plastic tank with ally top with fittings. So I had an alloy box made for it. But then I have to make a top plate and so on.
20250309_125024.jpg
so lined it all up for the top plate and then secured with m6 screws in to nutserts
20250309_125030.jpg
20250309_125027.jpg
this will sit on top of the tank it's self. Then on to securing to lid. drilled holes
20250309_125033.jpg
20250309_125039.jpg
went for a 1/4 turn clip call dzus clips thats the bits. Clip on to the bottom and the pin in the top and twist
20250309_125055.jpg
and turn
20250309_125213.jpg
so then looks some thing like this
20250309_125104.jpg
20250309_125319.jpg
and locks in to its clip
20250309_125324.jpg
. Now for a bit of pipe work. The tank needs 2 out let's from the pumps, a vent , a return and electric
20250309_132856.jpg
. Need more fittings but internally looks OK and should have room
20250309_132900.jpg
. Then strip it all again and give it a coat or acid etch primer
20250309_154216.jpg
20250309_154218.jpg

And went to do a covering of high build primer but had run out of hardener lol

On to the dash as I got no hardener. Started off with some CAD (cardboard aided design)
20250309_161950.jpg

I made some carbon blanks to fit the air vents
20250309_171459.jpg
then with the steering column being moved and running a separate dash pod. I done a blank for where the dials where.
20250309_172203.jpg

Then the misses called and said the bbq was ready..
