managed to just do it with alot of force. but now ive noticed the transpondwer is superglued in!!!!!

i used a hot air gun to heat up the glue holding the transponder & Carefully

scrapped away glue with a stanley blade, be warned the key gets quite hot

(use a cloth to hold) but dont heat to much as you could melt the key

houseing, just do it a little at a time.

Hi people, Great thread. Have read through but there is so much to read!

I have learnt that freqs do not matter BUT does it have to have a certain part number?

I can see ones for Audi, with a blade already on it thats uncut for cheaper than the bora ones etc.

Will this definatly work? Cheers

Nice one Gaz! This thread helped me right the way through the process. Was fiddly getting the top bit off for the transponder on the flip key, but once done had no problems.

Thanks m8!

Im assuming that you have lifted the vw badge and undone the screw underneath. Then you hold the key in a flat horizontal position, ( bagde side up, blade housing towards you) in both hands and using thumb pressure on each half ,prise it apart awayfrom you; then i think you could wedge a flat bladed screwdriver around the circumference to get the bladed portion apart.

Yea, I'm at this point. Got the key in 2, and I'm trying to get to the transponder part in the blade half.

Tried prising apart with thumbs, knives, blades, screwdrivers, the b@stard just wont come undone !!

Wow,

i guess is just a bit of a bugger to undo, my one was real easy ; i got a flip key for my mate off ebay and his one was a bit hard to open up. In the end i gave it to him open in case i broke it. He did mange to open it with difficulty without breaking it. His key differed from mine in that the badge on his was kind of superglued on while mine just had a very tacky substance on, which was good enough touse again without re-glueing, so there might have been more glueused as they use it to hold the transponder in place. if you do'nt intend sending it back you gonna have to be a bit more brutal especially if is has some give to go on or maybe try heating it up with a blow dryer thenattack.

Here is a pic of the offending key

1. Is this the right part ?

2. If so, what is the best plan of attack ?

Ah crap......

Got it open, but it sprang into about 50 pieces all over my living room floor lol

What am I meant to have in this section, where does the transponder go, and how does it go back together ?

Thanks

Right - getting there lol

I've found where the transponder goes (just need to remove the virgin one 1st....), but how do I reattach the spring ?

Any pics ?

Just to make sure I have no bits missing, I have:

2 plastic sides of the key
1 Spring
1 blank key blade
1 button things that goes inside the blade
1 transponder

Anything else ?

Thanks guys

Right........

Got it all programmed (central locking works off new key fob), went to get it cut and the 1st place said he couldn't do it (couldn't get it inti his head I only wanted the blade cutting).

2nd guy did it..............but when I got to my car, it didn't turn the ignition barrel :(

Now, do I have to get another key blade & try it again somewhere else, or see if he can do anything with it ??
