Nice one Gaz! This thread helped me right the way through the process. Was fiddly getting the top bit off for the transponder on the flip key, but once done had no problems.
Im assuming that you have lifted the vw badge and undone the screw underneath. Then you hold the key in a flat horizontal position, ( bagde side up, blade housing towards you) in both hands and using thumb pressure on each half ,prise it apart awayfrom you; then i think you could wedge a flat bladed screwdriver around the circumference to get the bladed portion apart.
i guess is just a bit of a bugger to undo, my one was real easy ; i got a flip key for my mate off ebay and his one was a bit hard to open up. In the end i gave it to him open in case i broke it. He did mange to open it with difficulty without breaking it. His key differed from mine in that the badge on his was kind of superglued on while mine just had a very tacky substance on, which was good enough touse again without re-glueing, so there might have been more glueused as they use it to hold the transponder in place. if you do'nt intend sending it back you gonna have to be a bit more brutal especially if is has some give to go on or maybe try heating it up with a blow dryer thenattack.
Got it all programmed (central locking works off new key fob), went to get it cut and the 1st place said he couldn't do it (couldn't get it inti his head I only wanted the blade cutting).
2nd guy did it..............but when I got to my car, it didn't turn the ignition barrel
Now, do I have to get another key blade & try it again somewhere else, or see if he can do anything with it ??
