flip key info thread

So far I have the flip key an alhambra one I think for my 2001 Cupra Leon. From EBAY -

Frequency says 433 - For info - whereas my original was 434 - I am so gung ho :)

Cut at Timpsons £6.

Finally figured out the matching the keys together using the original key in the lock malarkey.

I think you can add keys using vagtacho vagcom even if you dont have an original to code to I am sure I saw it somewhere on ross tech.

A word of warning re: USB leads I now have the £25 lead and that wont reset the dash engine warnings. I got the £50 one which is supposed to do more but I cant log in to read my own PIN(I think this is the SKC) using vagtacho.

VAGCOM definitely needs the SKC and SEAT frosts cant/wont seem to get it for me. SEAT UK is next to useless and said this:

Thank you for your e-mail of 12th March 2007.

I can advise you the dealership will need to go to a third party to get the SKC Code for you SEAT Vehicle. With regards to the amount the dealership are charging you, I can advise that all our SEAT approved dealerships are independent franchises and therefore, are responsible for their own workshop rates and charges. SEAT UK has no influence or control over these and would recommend you discuss the matter further with the dealership.

If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me on our Freephone Customer Service line 0500 222222 during our office hours of 8.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

Cheers all for all the fine info but I am stuck on stage 2 of 3 the SKC/recode the key bit unless anyone has got any ideas :)

you could buy a new "virgin" transponder, then find out you SKC and program it yourself or find someone who could

Thanks Al.

What equipment do I need to program the virgin transponder? Otherwise does anyone know a place in London I can get this sorted out?

a vehicle locksmith will do all this for a fee, the hard part is getting the SKC without paying for expensive equipment or some to do it.

once you have the skc then vag com can be used for programing.

I can't believe how much the keys are going for on ebay at the moment. I have just been bidding for one and put a max bid of £33, just logged back in and its just gone for £51!

The only people to blame are us of course!?!

just to add,
I got a vw 434mhz flip off ebay £23 even though my original was 433mhz. progammed remote central locking no problems. Only change made was the flip transponder is either used or wrong type, so it did not take programming until i took it out in pieces and replaced it with one from 'Hickleyvaltone'£5 ..ish.Im now looking for another flip for a mate and saw the £51 433 flip last night, but went for the 434 and paid £29 delivered.

Cheers Al - is the skc code the same as the four digit key code?

Armitage - is the £50 just for programming or do they supply virgin transponders etc?

To V5er

The £50 was for recovery of 4 digit Skc and programming immobiliser. I doubt they go as far as supplying the transponder and if they did it would cost a bomb. Theres a company on the web called 'hickleyvaltone' who do chips and keys but i found there keys were coming out a tad more expensive than finding one on ebay-'swings and roundabouts'. Anyway they do the chip for the mk4 ibizapart ref AKTP2 also known as ID48. I got two for £9.87 delivered then headed down to dealer.
If your lucky and get the guy i saw at reception you might getaway with £30 deal.

Armitageshanks - Thanks for that. I rang a couple of London Seat dealers, including Southgate. They are much cheaper than auto locksmiths. Also cheers for the transponder tip.

Now for the batteries.. The ones in my flip are cr1620's, 3 volts each.
I cant seem to find these anywhere on the net. If the LED isnt working I presume the batteries are flat.

What batteries are in your remotes?

Cheers,

V5er
