Yeah I thought it was drinkin fuel as on start up it smells a little fuelly,
It will it's on choke, ie more fuel injected till it get's warm not long mind usually up to 20 seconds a a guess.

Ok but its something ill be able to do in a carpark once i have got the bits, etc.
If i change this and its still not sorted what would be the next possible issue? Ive read about water pumps but i hope there are other things to try first!

My temp gauge mostly stays at 90 but seems to randomly drop to 80 and then back up to 90, so I'm assuming the engine's over-fuelling due to the low temp.
I have had the green coolant sensor for years so I'm ruling that out. Interested to know how easy it is to swap the thermostat...
100% thermostat mine did the sameDriving home tonight I noticed that the temp drops are not random - there are a few steep hills on the way home, and if I'm coasting downhill, no revs, just braking, the temp gauge drops to 80 until I get to the bottom of the hill and start giving it some beans...the gauge quickly goes back up to 90.
