Mine still stuck at 23.6. Downloaded the file and had 2 x 2 hours drive yesterday....
So far it has not worked for me

If you read the instructions from Seat regarding the offline map update, you would read that it takes several days

I'd make it exfat that the default solid state file system. NTFS is the HD one. 7 zip to be on the safe side as you say, the built in unzip programs are slower and can mess up the unzip.

Lastly but not least, no Mac involved ?. CleanMyDrive if so on it to dust down the Mac garbage. That's done once the files are copied onto the drive before you head out to the car.

I did do some tests and exfat is faster than NTFS. It came up when mib2 high download was exceeding the SD card. Which was the best format for USB. Answer Exfat.

Thanks to the diligent work of MartiniB.

Revised post swapping to the Skoda versions... turned out the VW version for RoW were problematic. No change in the European November 2024 release (24.06).

Technical Note - Derivation of the YY.DD as shown on the Infotainment Screen

I have now been told how to read that YY.DD date off the files after putting out my request for some time for a bright spark into these Mib3 files. It's been delivered. If you don't want to load up the file you can look up what year the and periods the files relate to. It's important with MIB3 files you don't alter the contents because you can't they are signed and they will refuse to load. So no tampering with the files like mib2 standard maps.

Anyhow, this is how you do it thanks to C34 on the Briskoda site... only two posts popped up to tell me. You need to install DB Browser for SQLite. This has an extension in it to read the NDS Associate files, the normal SQL Lite brower that is popular won't. Install the MSI of DB Browser for SQLite in the link above.

We now use C34's text... In this example on the file
Update OI_P119_EU_202425_Offline_Update.zip contains data from 23.12 (YY.MM).

You can check this for example in the MIB31_EU.ROOT/3D/PRODUCT.NDS file. This is a SQLite database, you can find this information in the updateRegionTable table.





You open the table up and have a look. Does help if you have database experience . On the VW file, for 2024/25 I got this:

So that is they, for the technically minded of where the YY.MM is stored in the files. Handy if you come across one and not sure. That's how you nose about those files not that you need to... or you can just trust websites like this.

You are on thr right thread... it's a mib3. 21.9 is the YY.MM

You do post 1 on here using the Skoda link. The files are interchangeable in the Vag brand for mib3 for this model. After the update that YY.MM will change to the November 2024 release. That will change to 24.06 based on the current link shown. Think you'll find the Seat page is hopelessly out of date why we use the Skoda link or the VW. The links are back to the file server cutting out the need to know VIN codes or logins to access.

So this means I can use this to update my map version, is it the same as the ones from seats offline maps ? unzip to a usb pen, plug in, then press the menu for a couple seconds to get the service menu and update ?

Yes because the current Seat one is 23.6 as per their screen. It's always like this Seat drags it's heals.

People on here like the usb c sticks with a flashing light so they can see that data is shifting over. Adaptors usb a to c aren't recommended since they aren't always fully wired.

The process is similar to mib2 high. They are digitally signed unlike mib2 standard. So no editting or messing about with the files since that breaks the signature. Macs will do the same if you don't use CleanMydrive. It's all well trodden for the mib2 high so it only goes wrong if you move off the procedure. Use 7 zip. You can use the inbuilt file manager ones on W10 and 11, but tend to be slower. I tabled all the brands pdfs for fun as I recall. You have to get the files in the route. That's another mistake people make not presenting them correctly, one level down.

Sometimes faster. Basically it uses a roll back process like mib2 high. Turn the ignition off and it stops after 20 minutes. Has a restore point and starts next time... etc. Over the air takes a time, the 2-3 days. All depends on 4g and the Vag provider they use. USB faster.

I trick the mib2 high and have suggested this technique for mib3. You open the door every 15 minutes with the ignition off. Reason for that at 20 minutes it goes into power down and you get a restore point. So you can force it that way, straight threw without stopping. Why people like the usb with the LED on it so they know they have activity. Mib2 high I use the engineering menu so I visually see what's going on.

That's a standard trick retrofitters use, you can leave the door open and it won't time out. I return back to the house, twice .

Nobody has told me that 15 minute trick doesn't work on mib3 yet. The whole process for European files should take circa 40 minutes. Dependent on the USB speed and the infotainment unit.

I have a usb C pen that I use to play my favourite music, I will use it, no flashing light, but it will do the trick, it's not formated in FAT, it has to be ?

ExFat is fine but if it fits on a fat32 that will be fine.

BTW I checked the Seat linked one and it is as they say, 23.6 so old. You can do better with post 1.

Depends how it's set up. The processor will be up to other stuff when driving, so may be the 20 minute rest periods before the car powers down is the window it takes. Or using satnav during that period ?. Why you are told just to leave it in.

The usbs with an activity indicator light on them that are loved by posters on here since they know when things are happening. Found two from a Google. Probably many more. Kingston and Lexar.

Then there are micro sd / sd usb c adaptors. They may have used one of them. Some have them.

Probably the device you are using is not suitable for the mib. Try another one, and format it accordingly.

I had to use a second usb device as the first one didn't work.
