How to update the firmware? (Current version 1803)

I own a 2020 SEAT Leon 4 1.4 e-Hybrid FR, and I'm looking for guidance on how to update my firmware.

Current system details (pictures attached):

  • Software version: 1803
  • Hardware: H56
  • Hardware ABT: H37
  • Software ABT: 3074
  • Navigation database: 20.11
  • Radio database: 1.30.24
  • Codec version: 3.1.4

I've seen that newer versions are available, but I haven't found clear instructions on how to perform the update.
  • Is this something that can be done via OTA updates, or does it require a USB update from SEAT?
  • Is it possible to manually update it with files downloaded from somewhere?
  • What improvements/fixes come with the latest updates?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

If I am not wrong, you can update to 1896 with a usb pen.

Can't remember if in this forum someone posted the files.

Good luck

you could also update directly to 1969. There is a risk with every firmware update

Hey everyone,

I reached out to a SEAT Authorized Service Centre to ask about updating my infotainment system firmware. Their response was:

"As I mentioned over the phone, the software update will be requested by the car itself, and you will then have to accept it to proceed."

This raises some questions:
  • For those who have updated manually, was the car supposed to request the update first?
  • Is there any way to force the car to check for updates?

I appreciate any insights from those who have successfully updated their system!

Thanks!

I never forced a Update
Thanks for your response!

I've seen in other threads that you (or other members) might have the firmware files to update to version 1969. Would you be able to share them or point me in the right direction to download them?

Also, if you have any instructions on how to safely install the update via USB C, that would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 2022 Leon which I've recently bought. After having fixed a problem related to the connectivity (the globe icon was gray), I was able to add my account and after that I immediately got an update notice from the infotainment. I think I was on version 1803 and it upgraded to version A896 which I believe is 1896 where A maybe stands for Air (not sure though).

I am wondering which is the latest version that the car can get OTA.. The update happened yesterday and today I've used the car but no more notices were shown, it's a pity that there is no "Check for updates" button, I really can't believe there is no way to induce a check.
Maybe tomorrow I'll try to perform a factory reset and a hard reset to see if I have any luck

just making a note on this thread to keep tabs on it as I'm in the same boat, currently on A896 and did get a notice this morning about an update before driving to work. But yes I have been advised to not force updates as this might conflict with other devices though some have said they've been fine too but will stick with over the air updates for now.

I have the Seat Leon 2021 (mk4?) and have issues with SOS yellow light flashing during a drive to a new place and my SAT nav no updating on the map, actually showing that I was off the motor way when on the motor way with random pulsing forward and back, in and out on the map. stopping somewhere safe, turning off and on didn't fix the issue, but turning off Bluetooth and using phone directly for navigation did as I was in a rush. Will try again full link on known routes to avoid the stress and to test further if the issue happens repeatedly.

I'm hoping its an issue with a dated navigation database as I'm not sure if the car pulls the GPS data from itself or the phone during android auto full link.

Have you had the same issue on your car? Attached images of the firmware to when it was brought and after first update which happened after factory resetting the car and setting myself as the primary user.

did perform a factory reset mate? If so did that encourage any more updates? I'm also in the same boat being stuck on A896 and semi pondering updating to 1969 once I'm 100% confident I wont run into issues. Luckily I don't have the firmware but keen to get one that works for my UK car.

I do know my SW train is MOI3_EU_SE_R9690L

been trying to locate the file here but not sure if this is the right one. again just making notes and prepping trying to make sure its all good before attempting.
