SW update for MIB2 infotainment system?

I bought the car with 103.000km and the firmware was already from skoda. After some search I found only one other driver, which had the same problem and same old skoda firmware. He drives to the dealer for updating to the latest firmware but this also didnt work. The dealer could not flash the latest firmware but something between. After that he could easily flash the latest seat firmware. But no words about how the dealer has done this.

A friend from a seat dealer will connect the car to odis today. Maybe he could do some update with that.

There is also Mib Tool that crossed my mind if you are short of FeCs but it's getting a bit bizzare to add missing Skoda FeCs to a Seat that has the wrong firmware on it. On the original question the car type steers the images that are shown. So I expect if it thinks it's a Skoda the rest may fall in line if you change them assuming it's preloaded with the other brands images back to a Seat if that's where it was on the wrong firmware, but shifted back to Skoda. Some thing to look for. That lurks (If it does) close to where you changed the carbon setting. If you can change Skoda to Seat ?.... Then it's model blah, blah, blah.

Putting Seat firmware on it may be the best bet is to transition it onto Seat software, unless in the dim and distant past they came with Skoda firmware. Guess someone hacked it thou, loaded up the wrong firmware on it. The 1447 AIO seems to be durable to go on previous Seat mib2 high units irrespective of version from posts on this thread so you would think that would go on it fine.

The mib tool authors hang out here whether they have words of wisdom on your position not sure:

I was given that one by @MIB-Wiki when someone was having issues using mib tool, but was an operator error rather than the tool itself. They are experts on firmware.

The coding of the car wasn't changed unless the carbon skin.
So with the Seat Firmware, it should display the correct car.
If my friend could not do an update to Seat firmware with odis, I will do the automatic update via sdwlautorun.txt and wait longer than 12 minutes.

The first update from old skoda to newer skoda firmware was done in less than 10 minutes. The first reboot into swdl screen took a minute. So I'm not sure if the seat aio update works or the device hung up.

Another option was the conversion from Skoda to Seat firmware, maybe somone has got a converted firmware for me, if this fixes the train problem.

After reading some threads a new question:
Is it possible to deactivate the "PossibleTrain" at metainfo?
Change the line "SupportedTrains = "MHI2_ER_SEG11_*"" to "#SupportedTrains = "MHI2_ER_SEG11_*""
So there will be no train-check?

The AIO software (All in one) the hobbyists as I call them avoid the SLA1 signature check by riding the import on a POI import putting the rest through behind which isn't checked, like following someone through a train ticket turn style without a ticket. Saying that all the metachecks must be fine. So if you adjust one piece of code you have to adjust the checksums. That's how they have put the software together. So you have to master that. I have done it in the past on POI imports when Seat messed up defining their infotainment model release - something that people did routinely on mib1 camera poi they didn't like the metre alarms so adjusted the file and had to recompute the checksums. You'll find it on the net (might edit in my explanation I once did below for some one who wanted to do it). Saying this if you break the import you might be in no man's land so you have to be careful you get it right.

Wonder where the experts are ;).

Where I explained how to compute the checksums previously

Ok got it.
But how about changing metainfo2.txt like this:
change MetafileChecksum = "XXXXXXX" to this skipMetaCRC = "true"
Then disable the line "SupportedTrains".
I know this is a ticking bomb but what other options do I have?
My friend couldn't update with odis because it said, it was skoda

I think this is a neverending story :poop:
Maybe I attempt to convert firmware as shown in the manual from mibsolution. But at the manual it is not für mib2high.
First thing, there are no same versions from skoda and seat.
Other thing is, I do not understand the area "change logging". At the last pictures I didnt see the changes.

I believe that this knowledge is reluctantly shared because some make a business out of it. So if someone does not want to share the knowledge, maybe someone can just provide me with a customized Seat version that I can flash via the current Skoda firmware.

Where I'm very impressed by the guys that write the AIO software. Must have the units on benches stating the obvious. Retrofitters do some of the work in doors with it connected to a PC, range of boxes etc. I have played with the skipMetaCRC in the past... can't remember whether I had success with that or not. Pretty sure that it doesn't make much difference you have to recompute checksums if you change anything.

If you compare the original 1447 software with 1447 AIO you can see what changes were done at each level. Check to see what they recomputed in elements of the code.

@Chillout is one of the experts. We haven't tried that gene yet. They would say experiment I reckon. Try stirring up @jpmedia and @MIB-Wiki again.

I guess one of the dubious retrofitters has dabbled in your car in the past to put Skoda software on it, suspect Seat didn't have a period of putting Skoda firmware on Seats. It has come up before on the thread where Skoda firmware has been found on Seats. Possibly the dubious retrofitters had experience of that, could lay their hands on it, so thats what they put on them. It might be a retrofit Skoda unit in the car where they didnt change the firmware. Now these processes are DIY using the enthusiasts modified firmware but probably expect the base point to be the brand.

Reply to the second post. Yes as touched on above there is the retrofitters business model of selling their services to other punters. The enthusiasts, the AIO software is the enthusiast not for profit firmware. Ditto mib tools. M.I.B. project is not for profit. Why within the software you see damming comments of not using it for profit on that written by enthusiasts. Some of the enthusiasts I believe know the authors of the original software so have inside knowledge. They have admitted.

The firmware I had put on my unit was done by a couple of Polish guys, once on a service station and at their home. They miss sold the firmware as unlimited navigation FeCs when they were only for one year. Business model they would sell you new firmware with again one year navigation upgrade period. I rumbled that. Hence the two visits. Happened to at least one other here. The boards retrofitter sponsor here is totally reliable.

The mib tool firmware that @jpmedia helped me out with gave an image of what the Polish retrofitters had done with date and time on it :). @MIB-Wiki also got to see an image of that and was damming and swearing about, on the thread. So a fun thing that the box inside it shows other peoples handywork. Now these processes are DIY. You just have an interesting starting point since its been dabbled with already.

I've found many informations about doing the conversion at the discord channel. Also an easy way to do the new hash.
So the way would be to edit metainfo2, do hash recalculation, configure brand/model with mibtool, reboot, select user definde swdl at mib tool and then start the update. Maybe I can do this week and report back.

Hello All,

Have done previous software updates so not concerned, but want to be certain re: which update to do.

I have a 2017 Mk 3.5 FR MIB 2 with software 0462 (MST2_EU_SE_ZR_P0462T)

I think I can update to: 0480 (MST2_EU_SE_ZR_P0480T)

As far as I can gather this is not changing train, and P0516T is not appropriate if I did not start on 0514?

My rationale for updating is the constant CarPlay disconnects that have plagued the software for years! Having recently updated my Fabia to fix some CarPlay issues it has prompted me to do the same for my Leon...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have done it today, and now Ive got the Seat Train ;)
The brand was already Seat so there was nothing to change. But android auto still didn't work. No Pop-up after connecting the smartphone. Coding is correct. Same smartphone at Ateca from 2019 works with AA but USB port is in front of the gearstick. At the Leon from 2015 the USB port is at the glove compartment. Some users said that they need an updatet port for Carplay but Not for AA. Someone have an idea?

I recall that's true for Car Play if installing from mib1 🤔. Hit Google. Think I recall a swap out to a different USB port unit ?.

Worth checking you got the FeCs installed ok if you haven't checked already. The AIO software if run all the way through should have done it. Where mib2 tool will add additional ones if missing from the shown list against the documented one. If it's not that then it's the USB unit... probably. I'd hit Google.

Maybe it could be the problem of coding from the USB port. In my mind the USB port is coded as apple and USB but I think it is the old Interface 5G0035222E and not the new one "F". Or should the coding still work for android auto with old port?

The FeC from Mib Tool is attached that's where I said check you got the FeCs installed. If it had a mib 1 in it previously I believe the usb will need changing. You read that on project posts of how to do the upgrade so the previous owner might not have done that.

I was always told the usb had to be replaced even on an MIB2 when enabling Android auto or it might have just been the units I'd asked about. I'm sure a retrofitter could advise

Any ideas what (if any) software updates I can do on my unit? And is it virtual cockpit compatible?

That's a mib2 standard. You can't change to the 5 series, you are on 4 series, 0468 as the picture.

Looking at the mibsolution.one we site, guest, guest

Your options are 480T or 479T. There might be a reason why both are posted. 480T would be the most recent. Generally the updates are for fixes to make things work better like Android Auto etc.

They are to answer that question. You put it on an SD card and keep the engine on or battery charger. Never done it but plenty on here have.

The maps can be updated if you yse them. Details here, you use the workaround, take the link:

Current release is 2010 (June 2023), you are on 0915 which is pretty old, 5 years ago.
