Android auto won't launch for me. Found this thread

Android Auto issue Mate 20 Pro

Hi guys. I just purchased a Mate 20 Pro brand new. Have done phone clone from Mate 10 Pro, downloaded all the updates (now on 10.1.0.298). I have tried to connect to my car via Android Auto and the app doesn't appear in my app list, however it appear

consumer.huawei.com

That all sounds like a support person who can't be bothered! I have android auto working perfectly. One thing I found is make sure it is not controlled by the phone in settings/apps/app control. This caused some weird issues originally for me.

I noticed somewhere in one of the many menus that you can use gesture controls for basic functions. It appeared to be switched on, but not idea how it works. Can't seem to get mine to do anything. Bit of a gimmick, but just intrigued.

Any zoom gesture? I've tried a couple of them but nothing seemed to work.

Has anyone noticed that at night, with the lights on, if you open the boot, the reg number lights switch off so they don’t blind you when the boot lid is open, and then switch back on when the boot lid closes. Nice little touch.

Something that noticed a while ago.. why can't you just come out of lane assist on the acc and go back to just cruise control, why do you have to go out of cruise control completely and then go back in if you just want to go back down to the adaptive cruise control?

I just touch brakes if I want to stop Travel Assist (and Lane Assist). Or as you said, switch off Cruise for a moment.

Does touching the brakes disengage lane assist? I just don't know why the lane assist button cant be pressed off and cruise control resumes. Seems a bit of a faff that you have to then put cruise control back on again then press lane assist.

My in-laws have a low ceiling garage. I don't use it often but I was worried that when I do, we'll open the tailgate without thinking and damage it on the ceiling. I'd love it if it had some kind of sensor to stop that from happening but I would be surprised if that exists.

This is exactly my situation - the boot hits the roof if I just let it open to its full extent. The programmable limiter is fantastic.

My lane assist is on all the time, regardless of ACC activation or not. Maybe I should check my settings?

No you're fine, lane assist is indeed on all the time unless turned off deep in the menus.

They are actually talking about travel assist, not lane assist... Because lane keeping is part of travel assist I guess they mixed it up

I switch off Lane Assist every time I start the car. But when you switch on Travel Assist, it also switches on Lane Assist. And when you switch off cruise or hit the brakes, it will switch off Travel Assist and Lane Assist, if it was switched off when car started.

Took trip to Liverpool yesterday (100 miles round trip) cruise control fine on the way there but on the way back on the motorway it was doing the ' I think I'm in Europe driving on the right and will slow down if I'm going faster than the car on the left so I don't undertake' which was a real ball ache.

Oh, didn't even know that was a thing... Surely there's a setting for that. As I drive on the right never encountered it.

It only happens in UK, when car is not able to read road signs. Known issue with ACC in UK. As I mentioned in other thread, you can drive on the same road, but depending on where you join it, car can behave differently. I'm pretty sure, I will encounter it today driving East on M25, because there are no signs where I join it.
