Please explain

i am talking DSG gearbox, which if you come to a momentary stop will cut out when you are not expecting it. Which is highly dangerous.

unless you are one of these people that sit at a rounabout for 15 mins causing a traffic jam behind until there is a gap big enough to fit Wembley inside

🧐🤨
Personally find start stop fine, starts fast. And at places where u need a quick response, just tap the accelerator once to start the engine. Get used to it, in the end.

Is there a “night mode” for the sat nav?
My previous Leon Cupra used to go dark at night, helpful as it didn’t blind you. Have read manual and pressed things on screen but nothing immediately jumps out at me.

Yeah.

When you go to touch the screen when In nav, the proximity sensor detects your 'incoming finger' ha and you will see 3 lines ( I think off the top of my head) press this and you will see the options come up ' day/night/auto)

Been meaning to put this up for a while..

When you put your foot flat to the floor it feels like there is a little button that clicks to let you know your foot is fully down

That’s the kickdown point. Common on automatic cars - it will usually override the normal gear/throttle characteristic and change down to the optimal gear for acceleration.

A quick way to turn on the heated seat on is to use 2 fingers and double touch the touch pad heating controls, having a finger above the blue and red marks.

Fantastic. I think there’s probably a few “shortcuts” / convenience functions which are still unknown. But as a soon to be owner, these will make my life a bit easier. Thank You. 👍🏼

I just noticed that when the windscreen wipers are not in use they tuck below the bonnet line and then raise a couple of inches when in use.
Yeah, nice touch, probably for aero at a guess....but worth noting that there is a little ‘valet mode’ function for when you come to clean your car such that you can clean under the wipers and wipe the blades themselves (which you can’t do when they are in the parked position as it fouls the bonnet).

From memory, open drivers door, press ignition on, then ignition off, the push down on the wiper stalk once briefly. They will then park in the upright position until you reset them.

I have a feeling there’s a wiper service position button in the vehicle menu somewhere too.

Now you say that, you might be right. I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.....or was that on my Mk7 Golf GTD that had the same wiper arrangement....I can't recall....the manual suggests through the stalk....

I've turned on Waze on my latest trip and I noticed the car and Waze are reporting almost the same speed. I was under assumption that most/all cars report higher speed than it really is, to keep a safety margin for the driver in regards to speed limits.

Did anyone else use some kind of GPS tracking to compare speeds?

Yes, there's 1 mile difference between my GPS and Formentor. It's almost as good as Audi, which had 0.6 mile (reading taken from OBD reader app) difference. In other cars, it was usually 2 miles at 70mph, Mercedes had 10 km difference at 250km/h.

Interestingly, American cars are spot on speed, comparing to navigation. They must have different legal requirements.
