flip key info thread

Finally started to look into doing this. There are no frequency numbers on my main key (remote one) or the spare key (non remote one). i have opened the non remote one and had no white rubber bit to lift up. However there looks to be a little green glass cylinder in the top left corner of the inside of the key, though fook knows how you get it out!

Just had a look on ebay and not 100% sure on what i am after. Do i need the flip key + all inside electricals, then the top aswell with a blank HAA blade? Then the spare glass cylinder in my spare key goes into this, then program it as per first post?

I know ill probably be going back over past quetions but help would be appreciated as i usually waste money by getting stuff like this wrong!

your current main remote key should have a product code and mhz rating on its outer casing - this isn't really that important though

there is no rubber on your current spare if i remember correctly, the glass cyclinder is what you need.. get a small screw driver and work at the glue around the sides and slowly prise it out

you need a complete flip key - 2/3 button depending on your preference - but the 3rd button (for boot release) should work if you get the right key - you need one that contains 1J0 in the product number not 1K0

that is the correct new 3 button part, then you need to buy a top peice with the blade (which the transponder from your spare key goes into)

might be others on ebay (inc blade part) - just make sure for a 3 button you get the right key

thats the bit, should be able to get one cheaper though than that - have a look around

the transponder with it will be blank - this cannot be coded with the car, so would need to be programmed by a specialist/dealer - or may be possible on vag.com

just dont break your existing one :)

I've ordered the bits for ours, a 3 button 1JO fob and a blank blade/top half with the SEAT logo.

I have just opened our spare key and chopped the glass transponder out ready!!

If this one is a sucess can I strip the transponder from the standard remote key and make another flip key?

Mine is stuck solid :( ill have a go today at some point though!

there is a plastic ridge which is next to the chip, all they do is put a bit of glue between the 2, I just slid a knike between knocked it on the table and it came out!

All sorted with the flip key now, so much smarter! :)

Was a b*tich to get cut though, no one wants to have a go, apparently most don’t work after cutting... I had to take my key back twice for a 're-work' before it would go in. Must be a nice source of after-sales revenue to VAG group making people have to buy spares from 'em!

mine was sticky for a few days and hard to remove from the ignition... seems to have worn itself now

Does anyone know what the difference is between the '1KO' and '1JO' fobs that means only one has a working boot release?

Has anyone managed to get a '1KO' fob's boot release button to work with an Ibiza?

think its just one works with the boot release the other one doesnt.

ive recieved all my items now but the top half seems to have abit of superglue or something on the flip key bit? Is this normal? Also how do you get it apart? (undone the little screw but cant seem to get it apart easily) Is this where the transponder chip goes?

Found someone today who (over the phone) thinks he can do it!

Will have to try on Tuesday when they reopen.

I rand a good 7 or 8 key cutters who wouldn't touch it!

On the + side the remote fob works and DOES pop the boot open too :)
