I went into local dealer and said to Parts Guy , Got meself a flipkey for Ibiza , " it wont work with ibiza" - Replied with , " it will ive already programmed it"

So he said ok and went and cut it for me and its worked perfectly since

Mine is stuck solid :( ill have a go today at some point though!

snap, mine was glued in, i had to literally butcher the the spare key to get the little sucker out

think its just one works with the boot release the other one doesnt.

ive recieved all my items now but the top half seems to have abit of superglue or something on the flip key bit? Is this normal? Also how do you get it apart? (undone the little screw but cant seem to get it apart easily) Is this where the transponder chip goes?

the transponder might go in the bottom half, to get it apart some keys dont require unscrewing it, it just needs a bloody good yank, i have posted further on in the thread about how i got mine goin, but it does seem that not all the keys are the same.

I'm having problems finding anyone who can cut it!!!

try timpsons, i asked the bloke working in the one in Bedford who said he'll do it, but wont be able to guarentee the work, and as a result didnt charge me, its been fine, never had a problem with it. Check if they have a laser cutter, that seems to be the only hold up

Timpsons say they cant do those but will be able to in a couple of months

Finally sorted the flip key last week :( what started out as a nice cheap easy mod kinda esculated. All my own fault. Due to me being a heavy handed dumbass i managed to break the transponder in the valet key  . Then i ruined the key half on the fob trying to remove the god damn VW badge that was on there.

So new fob with virgin transponder was ordered from ebay, and francis SEAT in Leicester coded it to the car for a modest fee. Im not even going to add up what it has cost me because it will make me cry ;) was it worth it, not really :censored:

Here it is then, all working with leather cover thing with red stitching to match the cupra interior.

Has anyone re-coded a 2nd hand fob that was used for another car?

Have seen a used fob but wondered if they can just be re-coded as easily as a new one or will it be a dead end?

yep read first page, its just the transponder that needs coding by the dealers or specialist, the fob will work if you follow the instructions on page 1 but it will not allow you to start and drive the car without the dash light coming on anyway.

Mine didnt

Bought a second hand fob , Got a new blade , Put the little chip out of my spare key into the Flipkey and followed the instructions , All works , No Lights :D

where abouts in the flip key did you put the little glass transponder?

and andrew your chip was already coded as its out of your spare key, cupra.al meant a brand new transponder needs to be coded by the dealers i think.

No worries, i wasnt sure myself!

Where abouts does the transponder chip go in the flip key? as i have got both top and bottom halfs of the key and cant really tell where. Though the top half i bought arrived broken and had superglue all over it :| so thats getting sent back! Had nothing but trouble with internet buying lately!

The chip goes in the half where the Key is , If you take of the Seat Badge or vw,audio or wotever and theres a small screw under that , Undo it and the key will basically fall apart

Put chip in there , Put key back in and put spring back in and screw it up

Mines now all done!

Hardest bit was putting the flip part of the key back together after sticking the chip in!

Well worth the effort, I may do another one!

Just bought a three button key for my ibiza cupra tdi been all over town trying to get it cut and had alsorts of reasons why they couldnt do it some said the blades on ebay keys are made from a poor quality metal which damages there cuttors timpsons said the blade was a bit too narrow so would't fit there machine eventual got it done on the market of all places also had it coded today by hometune motoring services he comes to you it took about half an hour and that was it job done now works perfectly so it dosnt have to be done at the dealer as i was previously told.
