In theory yes, but it's an empty key... there are no innards = no transmitter for the remote locking, I would spend about an extra £10 and get on with the transmitter.

Like this one:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-MK4-BORA-SKODA-SEAT-2-BUTTON-KEY-FOB_W0QQitemZ220490689283QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item335644eb03&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

This is the seller I got mine from, search "vw" in their items to find what you are looking for.

01 Toledo SE TDI 110 - Flip Key

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum. After reading this thread i ordered a 3 button flip key from ebay. The key was 434Mhz frequency.

The key came with a new blade and a new glass transponder chip inside.

The key arrived this morning, I have coded the key to lock and unlock my car using the method at the start of this thread. I have just been on the phone to my local Seat Dealership (Isaac Agnews Seat, Laddis Drive, Belfast). They have quoted me 20quid inc vat to cut the blade and code the glass transponder chip to my car! :D

I had to double check with the guy on the phone that this was right, as i could not believe they would code it and cut the key for as low a price as that! But turns out they will. The guy was very helpful on the phone and i have booked in for half three this afternoon to have the coding done!

I shall let you all know how i get on!

PS: GREAT FORUM!!!

Hmm, should the basic key have one?

My Mk4 doesn't and my Mk3 didn't have a chip in the 'spare' key, but both of them start the cars fine

i dont see why u would want to sell the 3 button one for a 2 button one just keep it.. i would :)

couldn't agree with you more RichieRich. keep the 3 button fob lock/unlock work when prog'd. (dont need boot release) at least they do on my mk4! trouble is tho. i broke the transponder getting it out:cry: so i've just ordered a new one from Hickleys (aktp2 - £3.50+v.a.t+p+p). now gotta find someone to prog. it for me. bit worried about the cost of that tho.
