Turbo Dynamics do a range of hybrid turbos.
Set 1 - PD130

Stage 1 = MD345 = GT17 compressor wheel.
Stage 2 = MD446 = GT20 compressor wheel.

Set 2 - PD150
Stage 1 = MD374 = GT17 compressor wheel
Stage 2 = MD376 = GT20 compressor wheel

Stage 1 – MD374

Hi flow GT17 compressor wheel, cnc machined compressor housing, 360 degree thrust bearing, cut back turbine blades, lightening of turbine wheel for faster ‘spool up’, modified V.N.T. turbine housing, uprated turbine seals. Other ‘blueprinting’ modifications. APPROX 200 - 220 BHP

You are not having much fun Maz! No doubt you would have preferred to make the modifications when you're ready and not being dictated to by the car (no wonder the're all she's).

I'll probably see you at the February meet as work takes its toll this time of year (there now :()

Cheers guys.

As I said I got to do some good research before I make a decision. Unfortunately as this has come unexpected and having just spent 2k+ on the diff and clutch which wasnt planned also I might have to choose another hybrid route...Just don't know yet. I do agree with doing it right first time however!

Just been advised not to drive the car full stop until i bring it in on Saturday due to levels of white smoke coming from exhaust.

I have agreed with AmD that I will be going for a TD2 MD376.

I know Lee. Just when I was starting to enjoy the diff and clutch a spanner is thrown into the works. I always planned all my mods and the order in which I wanted to do them. This sort of thrown me a bit as its 6-8 months ahead of schedule.

Yea I am sure I will be pretty excited when its all done and dusted. Its agony waiting and paying for it tho!

If you want a different hybrid you could always go a bit mad and get a hybrid GT3067V.
Where do you get that from? I am guessing you have to make other modifications to manifold and exhaust for it to fit?

Sorry to hear about the car troubles mate. On the other side though, the updates look really good and sounds like your enjoying it.

The turbo starts as a GT3063v from a Hino truck you then get a 67mm wheel fitted on the compressor side and get the housing milled to fit. You might also want to get a ported shroud milled into the inlet while your about it. If you think a TD2 MD376 is dear don`t even think about a Gt3067v. You will need custom manifold,downpipe,oil feed lines,adaptor plate,fitting brackets plus at least uprated R783 injectors to provide enough fuel.

I dont have the cash to spare on that turbo especially as it requires quite a bit of modification to it and other parts I currently have on the car.

I got a pretty good price for the TD2 anyhow so looks like I will be going with that. Thank you for the info anyway mikey, you been a great help.

Judgment day it seems.

Steve@AmD has been looking at the car for the past few days trying to isolate what the problem is. I think that's quite admirable that AmD haven't just gone with the turbo problem and exploring all avenues before the turbo is changed.

Steve has disabled my EGR completed by taking out the vaccum pipe and putting something else on their fooling the car into thinking the EGR is working fine (so no CEL). The Forge catch tank has been removed and all my smoking problems has disapeared. Steve stated he thinks the breather pipes on the catch tank are simply to small for the car and restrictive in some way. He wasnt sure exactly why this would be however since he removed it and put it back to stock smoking has gone down to normal levels. I will be seeking a refund from forge possibly.

The car is still going into overboost and then limp mode. We are thinking that the main culprit could be a faulty n75 valve that has been slowly dieing for some time now. This will be replaced today to see if the car returns back to normal - from there AmD will make assessment whether the turbo has gone.

Very puzzling the whole smoking issue with the catch tank, should have a chat with Pat, on his one and if he has smoking issue or is it as i said last night, something due to the issue of no fibre/matting inside the catch tank and the oil is being released back into the system in larger quanitys on high boost?

Certainly making me question to weather i fit one myself, i thought they could only benifit the system?

What diameter did you use against Pat and alike Maz?
