I just bought some 40mm lowering springs.... but.... i can't get my wheels off at all, completely stuck on, had two of us puttin loads of force into it and still wouldn't move!!!
Think when garage put new tyres on they must have used pneumatic drill or something? Anyone know if i can fit the springs without taking wheels off? Or know of any cheap electric tool i can buy to get the bolts out???

You can't get the bolts off?? If the bolts are stuck your doing something wrong... Try using a big breaker bar.

And unless you plan on getting very frustrated, or don't have a ramp, it would be very difficult to change springs with out the wheels off... Even with a ramp will be hard enough!! :cartman:

TBH the ride in mine was the same as standard, and greatly improved cornering stability.

On note of wrecking shocks, not really...

fair enough then, just Mat was going on about how its ruined his ride or something while back

As for your springs, would be more interested if they were 40mm or lower tbh as I think I'd want it that bit lower once fitted.

Yeh the pictures don't really do justice to the drop... I was struggling to see a difference for a start. Then they settled down and noticed more when I was washing under the arches.

But fair enough if you want lower.

Seriously mate i've tried and tried and tried, they're completely stuck! I've taken them off many times before, but this is the first time i've tried since new tyres wer put on a few months back!

I've got Koni springs, so isn't just some cheap springs, and got a mate who used koni springs on his polo and had them on for a good 18 months or so before he started noticing anything going crap with the ride... but he put better bump stops on or something?? not quite sure what 'bump stops' are! lol

get a pro breaker bar from halfords and save the recipt. attach the breaker bar to a socket on to your wheel bolts. then drive forward. (make sure that the front of the wheel is pointing straight!!!).

this seems like a bodge but it dam well works!!

around £20 mate. not much, they are worth it though! , you break it.. you take it back and get a new one... no questions asked :D!

plus they are very handy for just about anything that needs some umphfff..

also check the condition of your alloys, if the bolts are done up too tight they warp and destroy your alloys, if they have demand a new set from the company..

also i NEVER EVER let tyre firms or any garage do up my wheel bolts without me there. if they do i dont pay them. protyre in fareham compleatly destroyed my locking wheel bolt last time i was there. sure enough they are never getting my money again!

Adam I never thought I would see the day!! What happened to a bit of elbow grease? Seems a bit extatic to do that AND use a breaker bar!!
