My Revo RF018s arrived! One of them has a chip in the clear coat though, which has slightly spoiled new wheel day a little bit - will have to wait till Monday to see what Demon Tweeks are gonna do, seeing as I need the wheels ASAP and there are no more RF018s in stock till June (and actually quite few 18x8 silver wheels in stock anywhere atm)...

They do look good though, even in gloss black

Soundproofed the rear bench too. Boot was already done. Difficult parts were the spaces around the seat belt clips. Thought about leaving those at first, then decided do em anyway seen as the bench was off.

Trying the airbox mod. Gutted out the side the air filters on (as best I could with a drill), and blocked off the engine side. Hopefully it holds…

Washed the car for its first show date on Sunday, also had new Pagid rear pads and disks fitted in the last service where I change oil (

Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 5W40 Ester Fully Synthetic Engine Oil )

and sparks for NGK R7438-9 and will see if it makes any difference on the track next month.

Yesterday I've fitted 340 front brakes from Cupra Leon KL. Everything went pretty smooth and I am really pleased with the effect. It is upgrade from stock 288 brakes so change is very visible. I also have rear replacement (from 272 to 310), but they will be changed later.

Also I've fitted first light in the driver door pocket. What are your thoughts?

Nice job, did it make much of an improvement?
Not that I can tell when I’m in the drivers seat. Need sit in the back n have a listen. There’s still a lot of wind, road n tyre noise. Wheel arches, floor n doors need doing really.

Thanks Buddy,

Have you already done the boot floor?

I need to do it all in mine too.

Cheers,

Nick

Boot floor is definitely worth doing. I did the boot with silent coat + OEM carpet from VW Golf estate, and it made a noticeable change in road noise in the back (according to my kids, I didnt tell them I’d done it and they immediately noticed a difference). Need to do the rear bench next, I just didn’t get time before

Thanks TripleBob, I saw the OEM carpet on another thread, so guessing that was you :)

I like the OEM look, so keeping my eye out for that. Will order some Silentcoat and get on with it.

I also ordered new tyres today, so hoping that'll help as the rears were the orginals, having covered almost 30k so almost down to the markers, and the fronts are around 3mm.

Cheers,

Nick

I found out that my car is f*****!

Whilst at a VAG specialist getting new wheels, pads and the boot leak issue sorted once and for all, we discovered that the car has been involved in a serious collision, before I bought it. The repair is absolutely shocking.

The car was bought from a SEAT main dealer last year, so it'll be going back! I've no idea the history of the car now (it has a clean title) and as it's been leaking water, who knows the state of things underneath.

Now, should I get another 1.4FR, a 1.8/2.0 or a GTI...? Cupra is out due to insurance sadly.

You know what's even better?

My first car (August 2022) was bought from a used dealer and after blowing up 5 months later, turned out to be a lemon.

I went to a main dealer specifically to avoid that kind of thing, and find myself in this position again!!!

Put it this way, if it were repaired under insurance, it would be a Cat N. Expecting a call from the dealer today, so will see what happens...

Man the white led on interior buttons etc looks so much better then the horrible red.

I feel red looks so dated!

wish the Mk3s used white leds like the Golf mk7.

if I knew how to solder I’d definitely have changed them myself

You don't have to know how to solder ;) I've mentioned about that mod here few weeks ago, here are the links:

You’ve made my day ha!
Definitely looks so much better.

How much roughly did the parts cost in total if you don’t mind me asking?

If I keep my MK3 will add this for project to do over summer!
