It pretty much looked like it was achieving nothing being there although it must help a bit

I have been told NOT to put a plastic bag around it though as i think the whole point of it only being a plastic cover rather than a plastic surround as standard is to give it some room to breath as if it is put into a plastic bag, vapour & moisture will occur from the air inside the bag and it will probably :censored: up once again

Good theory - but you could jsut wrap it with silica gel in it in a dry environment.

I think I might conformal coat lorna's ECU, you'll be almost able to submerge that then.

No in fact it had been a bit better since Sunday at Donny South (as in it hadnt popped and banged in the morning on start up) but this morning pained me

What was yours like on start up? Mine seem to pop and bang and idle lumpy for about 10 seconds and then it seems to sort itself out, i mean this isnt all the time as since Sunday it hasnt really done it but then other times its gone on for up to 20 seconds

Did exactly the same, ran really really rough on start up and you could smell alot of petrol from the exhaust. then it would smooth itself down but then with out warning the dash would light up and i'd get bangs and pops all over the place.

Yeah thats what i have had too although i havent had the lights come on on start up

I have had a slight eggy smell when parked up after a drive sometimes, not all the time and that makes me think its the CAT?

it will be unburnt fuel making the egg smell as its going through the cat we had a range rover at work misfiring on two cylinders and it stunk!

Yeah but its never done it before, there must be something making the fuel be there or not being burnt! This is whats so difficult to find

I hope they sort it Saturday

Yeh i hope so too! Even if they can work out what else ISNT causing the problem we can narrow it down some more!

Yeah but thats what has been happening for the last two months! There has to be a point where the search stops :(

I would like to think there is only about two more possibilities as to what it could be to be honest

I spent most of Saturday getting my car looked at, road tested and logged etc

The outcome is:-

There was all these random fault codes coming up, some that just didnt make sense because of what had been tested! The Engine Management Light hasnt come on since Donny South but its still running :censored:

We decided to check everything else too

The throttlebody was cleaned up as was dirty, all hoses checked, Dump Valve Serviced, a new vacuum hose to the Dump Valve replaced, another MAF changed as a test but didnt need it as mine is new, air filter checked and CAT checked and LOADS of other bits

All these were fine!

The logs were done and the airflow was 129g/s (requesting 130g/s) which is fine, the timing is all fine, there was no misfiring and all seemed to be running 100% perfect, from that side

We then put a two month old ECU on it and it felt back SO much better although still seemed to pull back about 5500RPM although none of the fault codes came up at all

As soon as my ECU was put back in the main fault code that has been there all along came straight back, so even if that was the only one that came up it kind of tells me something really, you know?

I think knowing that now and knowing all the other faults that were coming up, it has to be my ECU! I mean one of the faults was the car misfiring on the first, third and fourth cylinders but when logged it wasnt misfiring!

I now need to find an ECU ASAP! I have one thats a possible at the moment but its always good to get some options to back myself up

Ryan - I have called and called that ECU Doctor number and they never answer the phone so i have left about three voicemails, they called me back after two voicemails and left me a voicemail apologising and saying we keep missing each other and then gave me a mobile number to call but when i called they didnt answer so i left another voicemail and they called back but i couldnt talk so when i called back they didnt answer the landline and the mobile number wouldnt work

I suppose the good thing is i know the car is running as it should be, by all the logs done
