Hi, Does anyone know how the Seat Ibiza MK5 (up to 2017) or MK6 (2017 onwards) wing mirror actuator fixes to the mirror frame in which it is fitted? I have discovered, after an unattended carwash incident, that someone has bodged the fitting, presumably after the mirror was hit at some point before I owned the vehicle. They forced a hole through the back of the cross-frame behind where the actuator fits and inserted an incompatible self-tapping screw through this hole into the actuator. This made a poor fixing liable to failure as the screw was too large and the hole is designed for a machine screw. The bodger's favourite essential - superglue - has of course also been used in copious but totally useless amount.
I can see from the unmolested opposite mirror (left side) that an M1.5 or M2 x 40-45mm Torx head screw is fitted through the mirror side of the actuator (not the back as the bodger decided was best). When I removed the screw from the middle of the actuator it became loose-ish but it is still held in place by something at the back of it. I cannot see what this is as the area is enclosed and the right mirror offers no clues. I do not want to break my left-hand mirror, so I am checking to see if anyone has come across this fitting in the hope that someone can enlighten me on what secures the actuator to the mirror frame?
Thanks!
