My mistake read it wrong! But that would be good to get with a new pcv valve when it needs replacing

Check the pcv breather pipes for splits. The upper one rots from the inside and is fairly easy to spot.
Failing that clean the throttle body and perform a reset with vag com.
Those two are good starting points with the first being the most common.

Interesting thread, did you ever get to the bottom of your problem?

Sounds very similar to the problems that have plagued my car for months. I replaced the DV, N75 and did the N249 bypass which didnt make any difference. It has got worse recently, before it was annoying but didnt really bother me that much. Think mine does the same as the others on here, boosts fine for a bit then the DV lifts despite still being on WOT then like surges and dicks about from there. It idles just fine so I don't think its MAF related?

I can't see any obvious leaks, have been planning to get it leak checked but can't really get at it as the missus needs it for work now. Anyway I have trawled the net and forums for ages but never seen anyone suggesting the PCV valve or the hockey puck.

Where is the hockey puck on an AUQ, and how much is a new one?

Its the standard "E" one. Green (I think) spring fitted, the one that came in it anyway I have the yellow and blue ones in the house so I assume its green thats in.

Ah cool I have never noticed that hockey puck thing before, is it like a 1 way valve or something?

This should explain everything :)

"E" revision is the latest revision and you should be fine. Green spring is ok for boost till 1.0 bar.

Cheers, yeah that diagrams good. I was going to try throwing in the yellow spring just to see what happens but I suspect if it did work that that would be curing the symptoms rather than the problem? I really just need to get it boost leak checked and have a good look at the PCV valve and that but I dont have much time, sounds like a job for the xmas holidays!

Similar issues... particularly when cold.
Did TB clean and reset, car serviced, logged coolant temps... smoke test found 2 leaks but no effect on hesitation....

So today I ran without the maf and it improved...not perfect but noticably better. So removed the maf.......

Sitting directly in the middle of the maf screen was a bloody dog end!!! It must have had a big effect on the readings on part throttle. I've no idea how it got in there but it seems so far to have corrected everything!

So as daft as it sounds check the maf screen is clear :D

hi all i have had my 180 for a few weeks and the list of jobs is endless!!! it appears these things are nightmares to fault find on looking at the threads. mine is sometimes hesitant on initial press of throttle in all gears it gives me some sort of dip in revs then goes again and occasionally fails to boost...?? i have since noticed a massive hole in my crankcase breather pipe. (you can put your finger in it) ordered new one from creation motorsport and hopefully this will stop the slight hesitation... also need to repair my SAI as it sounds like hairdryer. oh and need to replace turbo to manifold gasket as it sounds like a tractor.......mine doesnt leak however!!!!! vag.... should of stuck with my 850 t5 lol

Sorry, only just got back to this thread whilst searching for another one that I contributed to.

No still not fixed and probably getting worse as even with the colder mornings it's still playing up. I've replaced most parts on the PCV system apart from the upper PRV valve.
However I am now noticing an oil vapour smell again after the car has been running and you then park it up. I first had this with the 2 split PCV pipes. Don't notice it on the first run but when you restart (such as going to the shops) the smell comes into the cabin.

There is no leak around the PRV though (that I can see).
People have also mentioned the AUM to AGU charge pipe change because it leaks around the joint. I have the AUQ engine so no idea what the charge pipe looks like at present and it's too cold to go sticking my head around the car.
The only other place I've noticed oil is around the injectors but this coincides with the leak I had on one of the PCV pipes that is located in that area. I really need to clean it off.
