Rear shocks knocking

My FR 184 has developed a knocking sound at the rear (again). The first time was a loose shock top bolt but this time the knocking is louder and a lot more obvious.

I have not hit any pot holes and drive slowly over speed bumps etc.

Does this Leon share the same rear setup as the Mk7 Golf because there are some videos showing the shocks producing a knocking sound, just by tapping them?

My suspension sounds like I'm driving over broken glass over rough surfaces. Is that the same sound you have?

At any speed on rough roads, it sounds like the spare wheel is loose in the boot - however, I dont have a spare wheel. Its not the exhaust either (checked at 2 garages)

I have this problem on my 2013 Octavia which has Torsion Beam rear suspenders but our 2013 Leon with the IRS set up is quiet as a mouse by comparison. I have changed the springs and shocks on the O3, it has Eibach Pro Kit and Bilstein B4 shocks and the rattling developed about 10k after the switch, I think it may be the rear bushes, but decided to live with it as trading it in hopefully this summer.

Update

Just thought I would update this thread.

I had my rear suspension in for some warranty work last week on Friday. I was complaining of a knocking noise from the suspension at the rear.

They replaced the shock absorber dust covers, or what they are calling 'caps' which are made from aluminium. The technician said that they have seen a few Leon's where the shock dust covers became loose. So, they replaced them and the rear is much better now, although there is still a knocking noise sometimes which is annoying.

I thought it might be a loose bracket holding the fuel tank on at first but they said that's fine and there's nothing under the car that could be making the noise.

Car was in today - diagnosis is faulty top shock mount

Part is being ordered and will fitted under warranty
Anything further on this? I am also going through the same problem on my 184 FR and have been reading the Golf mk7 forums wondering if this is the same problem. Seems that the OEM shocks are to blame and some are getting them replaced with Bilstein B4 shocks.

My car was in for 4 days last week and they replaced the track rod bush but it didn't help. It's now booked in again for Wednesday but I'm not that hopeful that they will find a fix.

I've only owned the car for 4 weeks and am just wondering if the noise is something I'm just going to have to live with.

It's called a dirt shield. (if you mean what I'm thinking you mean)

I had a MK7 Golf GT TDi 150bhp from 6 month's old and had this fault from day one. It took VW 12 month's to except there was a fault with the rear shock's and got them replaced under warranty and never had a problem after that. The sound was at low speed on felt like repeated knocking under neath, very annoying.

Car was in today. Passenger side rear shock top mount replaced. 100% sorted :) :) :) :)

Mine was in last week and I got it back in time for the weekend. The rear passenger side shock was replaced under warranty. All seems good, so far.

Does this happen low speed only? When I move my car low.speed at car park, I can hear knocking noise when steering at full lock.

Happens at any speed but more noticable at lower speed over slight bumps or rough ground. This is now the 5th time the car has been in
