Next plan is to remove old shocks and replace with the new after they have been primed.
Turns out the garage never primed them before fitting.
I went to the garage today and primed them myself and the difference between the first full stroke to the last was amazing. Felt smoother and stiffer.
Hopefully this is the problem, will see i guess, if not i have another garage lined up to take look.

After priming - make sure they stay upright somewhere until they get fitted.
And keep them upright during the fitting process.

Yeah have been told to keep them upright, they will probably re-prime before fitting just to be sure,
Hoping this sorts it as we are running out of options now, everything has been checked and rechecked concerning the fitting so fingers crossed it is this,
It makes sense in my head with the symptoms we been having.
Cheers once again Deano, you have been a great help buddy.

One extra check BEFORE they remove the spring compressors.

Make sure the top mount is tight to the damper rod ( you won't be able to feel any play after the spring compressors are removed.

My guys found the issue: “Check for creaking noise whilst driving, Found headlamp level link arm ball joints causing the noise. Removed linkage, cleaned and greased. Road tested all ok”

I remember that when my May 2000 VW Passat 4Motion with HIDs, was maybe 8 years old, it was bought/imported new by me, when I jacked it up - maybe at the rear, the noises that it made while being lifted were horrific - that was a "still working by partially seized" load level sensor arm - I bought the complete unit and replaced it, that stopped that noise.

Well guys, still waiting. I intend to collect the car this Friday, whether it is sorted or not.
The garage has been told to prime the new shocks and refit.
We primed them to see if it made a difference off the car, it was amazing how different the shocks felt after priming.

Dont forget, the garage never primed them previously before fitting so we are hoping that this is the problem.

Its is judgement day this friday to be honest, the stress of this has made me ill almost, if it doesn't solve the problem then i will either let another garage take a look or sell up.

Car is absolutely perfect in everyway but i feel beat right now so watch this space.

Well heres the update.........

Car still knocks🤬
Primed and refitted with all new hardware and it still does it.
Got another set of new shocks to try but have decided to let another garage take alook.

Got proper annoyed last night and started looking at different cars within my budget, then picked my car up this morning and drove it for the first time in 2 weeks. Knocking like crazy but instantly realised that i cant sell it, love the bloody thing to much🙄.
So i will let another garage have a go and see what happens.

Nope, had new brake pads fitted, they have been checked, the knock was present before and after the pads were changed, also the noise is present even under braking. Cheers for the replys everyone.

Can you double check your brake pads - I see this quite a lot with this TRW designed caliper.
What pads are you using?
This brake system relies on the anti-noise shim wrapping around the back plate (red circle) - which laterally constrains the pad, so the thickness of the shim becomes a critical dimension.
I see many pads using a shim which is too thin, or where the back plate is on the low end of the tolerance - which means the pads loose & can clunk - even the VW OES pads as in the video below.
This clunk noise will travel up through the damper and top mount so may sound like its coming from the suspension.

Interesting that you have said this. Got to more investigation but im beginning to think that the noise doesn't happen when on the brakes, pads i had are brembo.

The Brembo P 85 144 use a cheap thin shim!
I don't think the P 85 144X does any better.
I would be checking these, take the caliper off - and see if the pad clunks up and down.

Just done a 10min drive on the same road over and over, it rattles when off the brakes but quiet when braking slightly.
Pretty conclusive i would say so phoned the garage and they are getting a set of pagid pads and will swop them today so watch this space!!!!!!

Fu** me sideways, swapped pads to pagid and it is sorted, the movement in the caliper with Brembo pads was nearly 4mm, no movement with pagid.

Thank you for everyones help but a special shout out to Super v8 and Deano.

Both of your imput has been invaluable. Cheers guys👍👍👍

I had exactly the same thing when I had a new set of VW OEM discs and pads fitted. It was driving me mad, took it back to my VW specialist, they adjusted the shims and it's been fine ever since. I had never had this with any other car?
