This morning ChrisP off edition38 popped over to help me get the carrier bolts off on the drivers side. Got the car up on his swanky wideboy trolley jack, better than axle stands that jack is. Anyway 5 minutes later the bolts were off with the aid of a set of bolt extractor tools. Gonna have to get me a set of them, they work so damn well.

Got the disc on, wheel on and the car dropped down again in no time....

Total time less than 30mins... Just goes to show that with the right tools it doesn't take long even if it's all gone wrong.

Anyway I drive it up the road and back to settle it and it's scrubbing a bit, and as I think about winding it up a bit I notice the handbrake light is on. Ermmm houston we have a problem, abs light on as well, then it hits me, as we were doing the discs I'd forgotten to transfer the abs ring over to the new discs... grrr

So off it all had to come. This time as the bolts were ok I didn't have any trouble and got the lot back off, and the abs ring on the new disc after watching the GP.

Then decided to wind the coilovers up, now I wound the drivers side up twice, not being used to coilovers it didn't seem to make much difference winding them up buy 25mm from how it was before... Until I went to the other side and noticed that raising one side effects the other side too :dhop:

So both sides are now raised by 25mm on what it was before but at least it's level now lol

By the time I'd done this the focus had shut so I couldn't go get some slabs to get the front up on stands. Might get to do that tomorrow so I can have the front end in bits.

Abs light is still on, I assume this is because the rears are bigger than the front so the ecu sees a mis-match.

Try clearing the codes with VAG Com Pete, when my cordy had abs issues the codes didn't always 'auto clear'

my ibiza had a load control valve on the back axle pete, not sure the cordoba did.this will affect the braking if you have lowered it,and not adjusted the valve.

Hopefully my vag-com cable will be with me tomorrow. The airbags need resetting anyway.

Have you fitted new discs to the rear Pete?

Yes mate, why is there something I've forgotten?

Oooo now that's something I hadn't considered. How do you adjust them?

NO load control bias valve when you have ABS.
my gti had both mark.this is why i'm not sure whether the cordoba did.
easy to adjust if you have one pete.its in haynes manual, but from memory, flat ground, undo bolt let it settle naturally, and do the bugger up.
like i said though, ibiza had one not sure the cordoba did though

Could be depending on what discs you have used and if you have fitted the ABS rings to the back of them (they have to be swapped over from the old ones).

Yeah done that mate, forgot on the drivers side yesterday initially but sorted that. I think the ABS light is now on because I'm running 17's on the back and 16's on the front... Well I was until this afternoon...

I managed to get a decent socket set today, and a nice long breaker bar to sort out the front end. Put 2 paving slabs on the grass and got the car jacked up on stands. Took the drivers side carrier/caliper off then realised I couldn't undo the hub nut without the car being on the ground  so dropped the car back down and had a go... No progress, the socket slips off every now and again and I can't get it undone. Catch m0rk on msn and he confirms that I need a 6 sided socket not the one I have out of the socket set.

Quickly pack up and go to Halfords and get myself a 30mm hub nut socket. Well I thought I did, only when I got home did I realise althoguh the tab on it said 30mm the socket was 27mm  So off I toddle back to Halfords to get it changed ( good job it was open until 6pm today.

Get back home and the hub nuts come off easy :D Then again being a fat :censored: to stand on the breaker bar helps.

Now it's on stands and I just need to figure out how this ball joint extractor works.

Will do mate, I assume you mean the rubber hoses? I won't be using those anyway as I'm fitting big ass 312's but I'll check 'em anyway. Might as well check the back ones too ;)

Don't need a spare bonnet do you? I've got one you can have for free if you pop down and do the bearings :roflmao:

Yeah it's going well so far, but I'm getting worried, the front end is goign too smoothly and something always goes wrong when I pick the spanners up :(
