Well after a long week messing around with just one small part of the install I thought I would share what's happened so far as I am to excited
This is still work in progress unfortunately thanks to connect2 and their inability to manufacture the correct facia !
Before I started the install I contacted Pioneer directly as I needed advise and at one point possibly new firmware
so here is the unit fitted
nothing to special so far, but what's this button for ?
and why does it show the radio ?
because it's the first mod I have done, people have done Double Din, people have also done DAB in a mk5, has any one done both ??? I have !!!
A fully integrated DAB Radio ( tuner is hidden in the trunk along with the Ariel)
the 2nd mod is a lot harder to show , it's a homemade video by-pass module allowing full operation of the video while driving. ( can find loads of how-to's on Google/ YouTube) This was done so I get to be the coolest Uncle when I collect my Nieces from school, Simpson's any one ?
Here is the most disappointing part of the install so far - No Damn Facia !
spent a lot of time with the dremel trimming down the facia. It turns out that the connect2 facia is aprox 6mm to wide and around 3mm to long, Also the hole is also 8mm to small for the radio to fit
. So far its been cut down the middle and its now in two parts awaiting some 3M carbon vinyl to arrive to tidy it all up.
