BTW bill - sorry can you explain how to pressure bleed the system - preferably without VAGCOM unless i can get someone to lend me it for a day or so?

Mine is a £12.95 Gunsons pressure bleed system.
Fill bottle with new brake fluid, connect it to the brake fluid resevior on top of the m/c, and attached to a car tyre for the pressure. (NOT too much pressure however. I used tyres 30psi, but 15psi is max advised.)

Open bleed valves on calipers and allow the fluid to come out with no bubbles. (tube on nipples into a catch bottle)

If in doubt however get it professionally done.
It is your brakes after all.

bill

Dunno about the wheels but they would physically bolt onto the hubs I think.

You need 50mm wheel hub face to spoke clearance.

Could always try them on my MKIV. :)

Nearly the same as to make no difference on wheel fitment.
Calipers are Brembo GT kit type ones, which in plain speak is same as Ibiza R ones.

Leon-R calipers (apart from being hugely expensive for no benefit) have different mounting offset to suit SEATs bracket.
The brackets I have suit the GT caliper, but the disks are Leon-R spec items yes.

The magic number is 50mm which you could check for me if you get an R in front of you some time.

Given the Leon-R caliper is identical thickness to the Ibiza (GT) one, and its a Leon-R disk, the wheel clearance should be the same.

LOL - not me mate.... someone jumping on the bandwagon

Buyer beware...

I don't think MY03 wheels will clear tho.
Not tried them tho, but they look to be struggling in the caliper to spoke clearance aspect.

Cheers Bill - ain't going to chance that sort of money on an unknown.

I'll wait around until someone has the answer. Was thinking of going to the Nurburgring, but don't fancy it now until the brakes are sorted...:D

Dangel,
Another month passes mate - any chance you've got your 18s yet? Any news on whether they'll fit under MY03 17" wheels?

Cheers,

Al.

Cheeky sod ;) As pointed out... they're on the car as of last weekend so no more moaning :)

You'd need ridiculous spacers to get the original wheels to fit - we're not talking a few mm here, we're talking a LOT. The LCR wheels only just fit the callipers and they're ET38..

Found out today that RS4 18's don't fit over Brembos, probably down to ET30 offset and fairly flat spokes. Looks like ET38 and curvy spokes (on the backs like the LCR alloys anyway) are needed for Leon Brembos. :( The RS4's fitted with 8mm spacers but suffered vibration above 60 so the whole lot had to come off again. :grump:

Anyone got LCR alloys for sale (How much are they from SEAT)?
