I think that's pretty much killed off going IHI on the Ibiza for me, its beginning to sound like too much aggro in a car with a less than ideal chassis to begin with. Think I'll just throw the money at the Corrado VR6 Turbo and just re-map the Ibiza for daily driver use or if I have enough left over from moving house, chop it in for an S3.

Too much aggro? Nah... :)
Something very different and bordering on ballistic.. :D Makes me smile still. :)

All depends on what you were aiming to do.
My Ibiza handles pretty well these days.. ;)

Accelerates at a rate which mrs B can't hold her head up :p

It's the idea of things melting and touching that shouldn't be that bothers me. Wonder about the effects of mid-long term exposure to heat on other components.

The Ibiza is meant to be the daily driver with the VR6 for the track as it's more composed and older/more likely to break down at innopportune times! Although you're probably biased, I can't help thinking it's a bit much for me to have 2 300+bhp FWD cars albeit of very different characters, especially when there's a Fireblade (and hopefully one day a Ducati 998) to go with them. How much speed can one man have? :D

LMAO! You might re-convince me at Mallory - do you know which car you're taking yet?

Can't quite work out why there's so much bitching from some camps on this turbo though. It isn't huge. It's a bolt on, and on the glof it's enough to make an RS4 think 'what the effs that' when they can't shake you from their arse from 40mph until go straight to jail speeds.

It's an RS4 driver I see regularly, and last night (on our private test track) was the first time he hasn't pulled a couple of car lengths by silly speed. Last night got a massive thumbs up and a grin from him.

It's more than enough power for your average driver (me) on the road. It's got to the point where I now have to treat the accelerator with some respect rather than use it as a binary control.

I've driven jabbas ibeza, and loved it, but after the adrenaline subsided, and the subsequent headache cleared, the old man in me decided I wanted to live at least another year or two.
For a track car where you can turn the boost down for road use, then I can see it's great. But for me I don't have the self control to turn the boost down.
I never took my bike test as the day after I'd have been on a fireblade for about 10 minutes and then in a coffin.

And yep glen and bill your bang on, it's the poxy k03s exhaust turbine thats the bottle neck. Not much can be done about that one.

My girlfriend can't hold her head up when I'm driving my ~200bhp Ibiza now... she says it makes her eyes go 'funny'. :) Now imagine that with the IHI! :D

BTW, where are you guys getting your chargecoolers from? Direct from Pace or from Jabba? What price have you paid?

Has anyone considered the large port head on the Ibiza? I'm trying to source one now, but am having problems finding one. This may give you a bit of extra power from your E05.

Cheers
Ben

PS. If anyone comes across a largeport head for sale then please let me know. The largeports are on the N/A engine and engine code AGU and ADR.

High heat exposure does kill things... Like inner CV and boot, rear engine mounting. Heat wrapped now and these seem to be under control.

Prolly going to be the Ibiza... but I am worried about the std g'box which will be in there.. Other things have cocked up my plans a bit.. so Ibiza g'box is delays a few weeks... (hopefulyl installed and debugged for Cadwell on 20th March) - I hope to not kill the Ibiza at Mallory, but no diff, stock box, makes me worry. (once bitten, makes me nervous)

Sensible road cars... Don't you just luv em :p :)

Bikes are mad speed and fun... Beware of the car drivers trying to kill you tho :(

I hope it is'nt E05 bitchin.... as on your car is superb! I do wonder if you're lucky enough to own a freakish motor tho... Always gone better than any other similar tuned equivalent car..
you lucky lucky lucky....b*@$%^& :D

Comparing an IHI to an E05 is'nt like for like... Compare GT28RS against IHI, or K04 to E05...... Apples and Pears.

Some big turbo kits out there seem to suffer manifold blowing probs.. Thankfully, this does'nt appear to be a Jabba manifold attribute..

If the E05 can be made to go as well in an Ibiza as your MKIV, then this is truely an IHI alternative for a whole load less mulla. Finding the magic mix of parts to make this happen will be the key. Bolt on add (X) power it is'nt tho I suspect... talking Ibiza here not Golf.

Roll on REVO's Ibiza and parts list of what it took to get from (a) to (b) power wise.

I went to Pace for my 4core CC , very nice peeps indeed ,
£909 fitted and done in 5 hrs .

Highest temp recorded on Jabbas RR was 45 degree after several runs .

NO ICE CUBES USED :D :D .this time ;)

Cool (Pun intended). I dunno whether to get mine done now, or wait and get it done at the same time as the rest of the IHI kit.

I'm hopefully ordering a intake temperature gauge in the next couple of days (I'm working in the US for a couple of weeks beginning tommorow, so I'm gonna buy some gauges (Boost, Intake Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and either EGT or A/F Ratio) whilst the dollar is so weak!). I'd like to see the sort of intake temp I'm getting now, compared to the intake I get on a RR, compared to the instake with a CC (On and off RR), compared to with IHI.

S'pose I could just use VAGCOM. ;)

Cheers

new DP

ok Downpipe has been modified, instead of the 2.5" squash to 2" and bad bends, it has now been changed to a 2.75" flexi (and above flexi 2.75") and then a 3" mandrel bent stainless pipe all the way to the cat with less vigorous bends and the pipe being 'Flow friendly' i.e. no joins in direction of airflow.

Reason the Flexi was not uprated to 3" is 1)Hard & Expensive to get hold of 2) Alot of extra work involved to do that and pipe attached to flange which = more £££ and 3) the most important thing.... SPACE which is a privelage in the ibiza!!!!

The flexi is the standard miltek but flared/expanded to 2.75" as is the pipe attached to the flange. So far no knocks/error codes.

Only other mod included was the cat was turned 100 degrees and the heatshield mounts moved on the other side, this was because of the probe facing up to cockpit was digging into heatshield (even before it was modifed) and allowed more room for it to fit better. Pipe after cat was also tweakd 5 degrees or so to allow cat to point slightly up towards dp for ease of fitment and clearence/improved space of steering rack/pinion.

Obviously the left one is modified the right one is miltek 2.5"

so thoughts on this??
