I dont know how you guys beat evos, m3 and boxters altho i have a leon and i understand its bigger and a little slower than your ibizas there aint all that bigger difference and i tried it with a EVO not sure wich one it was on a motorway i was doing around 80ish and he pulled away from me altho he didnt lose me there was no way i was getting closer to him.
Maybe my mapped 1.8 20 VT is different cuz i dont beat boxters, evos & M3's!!
What spec you guys have to be able keep up with 320BHP Evos?? cuz as mentioned my mapped 202bhp leon dont stand a chance!
I mean guys a 320BHP rally monster Vs a 250 BHP (tops!) hot hatch??
got this figures of parkers.co.uk:
EVO FQ 320:

0-60 mph: 4.7 s
Power Output: 325 bhp
Top Speed: 157 mph

I bet there is less than a handfull IF actually anybody on this forum that has a sub 5 sec 0 to 60 or a top speed of over 155mph!
im sure you understand why i have my doubts...!

Of the line, pretty much all of us wouldn't stand a chance, on the move we have more of a chance, I have never played with any EVO's before, but have with WRX/STi new age Impreza's and 'on the move' can easily beat WRX's and standard STi's and can just about keep with a STi PPP (mate wasn't happy  ).

Maybe you need more power ;)

Aye, damn the banks... money should be free ;)

Without spending a fair bit of money, I'm not sure if theres much you can do, an exhaust system doesn't really free up much power on its own tbh, so if its power you want, just an exhaust would be a bit of a waste.

You told me not to say what I reckon you should do.... ;)

An Evo, scooby or similar 4WD car has MASSIVE transmisison losses.

THey may be 320 bhp but they probably lose 60 - 70bhp easy through the transmisison. Then you have to remember an Evo or Scooby will weigh quite a bit more than a spanish shed hatchback.

So with the weight advantage and the massive transmisison losses from 4WD, the little spanish shed can give them a run for their money :cartman: :p

The bhp figures are all well and good but simply because it's a 4 wheel drive car they lose a huge amount by the time it comes to putting the power down on the road, so 320bhp is probably nearer 230bhp (guessing figures) at the wheels, they do lose a stupid amount, but as said before off the line you won't have any hope because they put the power down far better than a fwd car, when your rolling though there really shouldn't be a lot in it.

power to weight, think my car would be a good 300kgs less than the car's spoken about here. It used to weigh 1070kgs should be around 1030 now.

A bit of food for thought for the haters ;)

Evo 8 @ 320bhp - Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 219.69
Ibiza Cupra @ 230 bhp - Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 208.84
Ibiza Cupra @ 240 bhp - Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 217.92
Ibiza Cupra @ 250 bhp - Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 227.00

Dont forget the Evo will be getting less power on the tarmac as well because of 4WD losses to that will shift the power/weight even more so in the spanish sheds favour :)

People are so blind to the facts. They are blinded by AWD quick 0-60 times. Try finding out about 60-100 times. None of the above mention a 0-60 drag.
Try reading the thread first.

If that power to weight ratio was done using ATW figures, which is where it counts anyway, it would favour the cupra even more.

arguing over whos car is faster in a straight line......ohhh my how:gay:

lets face it u spend alot of money to get the ibiza at 230/240/250bhp
ok not as much as the extra it would cost for an FQ320 but u could spend just as much on the evo and make that faster again

swings and roundabouts...

the evo as standard would eat the 250bhp ibiza on a circuit

transmission losses are big pop on a set of rollers and so ppl can go down the pub and have a good laugh but out on the road with the option to change gear transmission losses mean diddly. power to weight is much more important
and so u could just as easily strip out an evo as u could the ibiza, infact u could prob lose alot more weight in the evo

turbo back exhaust - £700
overly expensive air filter - £150
k03s turbo - £250
remap - £500
front mounted intercooler - £700
3 replacement mafs - £200
some decent suspension so u dont roll over - £500

the look on the evo drivers face when u match his high performance rally car - priceless

but was it all worth it? :roflmao:

What do ya mean transmission losses mean nothing with the option to change gear?
Power to weight figures are important obviously. But like I said, use power (wheels) to weight. Not fly figures as everyone usually quotes, It will be even more favourable to the Ibiza.
EVO 320 wheel fig. - 240?
Ibiza - 210?

Power gap has closed even more with the weight still in the bizas favour...
