Right, I've got both (admittedly a diesel Cupra) but I'd like to meet up with a Ibiza running some decent power and settle the argument once and for all!

I'll happily agree that the Ibizas will hold on to an evo once its rolling and indeed, most evo owners will not punish their cars off the line (i won't) for fear of destroying their clutch. I'd say a mk 3 Ib. running 250 genuine bhp/lb ft would definitely give the EVO a scare - in a straight line, from 30 mph to 80 or 90, but then the EVOs superior (yes shock) aerodynamics would come into play and it'd pull away again.

Mine might be a lowly 300, but please, a cordial invitation has been extended! :)

Oh and I'll show you what roundabouts are like with Super-AYC afterwards if you like ;)

Ok not having a go but i dont understand when people say i keep up with evos and all that, so just so i undestand if from 0-60 a evo would pull away and then again at 90mph. You only got a 30mph "gap" where you might keep up with one so whats that about 4 secs tops??
How is that keeping up with one?
Again guys i really aint having a go i just dont understand what SOME of you mean by keeping up:shrug:

Ok, from 0-60 the evo would pull away due to its launch. Potentially a fwd car would keep up from walking pace as long as it WAS a rolling start and it hooked up with decent traction. A well driven evo is a nippy thing, you've also got almost 7,800 rpm to play with - full boost at sub-3,000 rpm.
