SW update for MIB2 infotainment system?

If I upload the codes to the infotainment for AA and Sport monitoring, do these functions activate or is 0123 just too old!?
Well mib tool only work with more up-to-date fìrmware and that's the DIY solution or upgrade to 1447 AIO as per recent posts. Finding a local retrofitter is the other way.

But as Mykro says you have 1447 as an upgrade. Picture may be one for @Walone there are image files within the update so you may be able to find the correct one ?. That is something you have to check if a retrofitter does it.

I have linked to when I was looking into this on the Ateca Cupra thread. You are best to identify which image you are on before you start.

Then 1447 may have the image preloaded you just got to find it and set the code for it. The mib2 high unit firmware seems well populated. Post 14 and beyond.

The Cupra ones are a "secret", cracked, I was trying to resolve a question for a mib2 standard Ateca Cupra. They are fully populated in the Seat Ateca Cupra mib2 high, not on the standard. So I reckon you just hunt down the correct code if the image is sitting in the firmware to be pulled out. Just depends whether it was dropped, other than that pick your car using coding... least I reckon that's it. Needs a reboot each time to test. Worth a read. If you can't find the image, match to the nearest.

So do I understand correctly that from M.I.B tools I can install sw AIO1447 directly via sw 0123 ?

Thank you so much for giving me such helpful advice here!

No you just install it direct. There are two versions of Mib Tool. The one that Chillout linked to was to change the themed outline colour on the display. 1447 assumes you have ambient lighting which was Mykro's issue. Chillout who is the author of both high mib tool ones said use the graphics version of the tool (with the link). The other tool does retrofit type of work in car rather than on a work bench. You needed that or could use that with the previous high firmware releases. 1447 AIO circumvents that bringing all the FeCs into the release.

That just leaves the highlight ring around the graphics to twig as per the Chillout text if you want to change them from what is coming up and finding either the correct car image or one you like. Post 1208 gives the 1447 AIO software link, guest, guest.

That's my understanding of where we are. You will get AA but not Car Play without changing the USB as per Mykro's link. That was a useful link.👍. I've sent Mykro off looking at the car image post I linked to. That may be the key to changing the car image. Worth a read. I'm assuming 1447 has the same images in it as the 1xxx releases. Question of going thru them in the car and checking.

I'm getting lost in this, and I've been reading this for 3 days ! I better tell my son to go to the Seat service center and ask them if they can't update it somehow ! I have updated and patched the Mib2 Columbus in my Octavia vRs 230 and there it seemed simple ! Everything works for me there now including AA, Car Play, Performance monitor and map updates. But this seems terribly complicated to me. Anyway thank you all for trying to help me. Take care guys

It's not complicated. Mykro got it working first time, just doesn't like the red and yellow highlights so Chillout told him what to do. Then it came out that the image of his car didn't look like his car so I sent him off to a post discussing changing the image (thats easy enough if all if the images are in 1447, should think so). So if your son is not fussed by yellow or red surrounds on the display or the image being different, it's done. If however he is, then the solutions are on the thread. It had never come up before so I expect most people aren't bothered with it if they come from 123. Just happy with the update.

You do it without mib tool which is what mykro did in this post:

You keep the engine running. Should give you AA from what was posted on the link from Mykro of another thread on here discussing historic compatibility. Yiu can also load up the latest maps... Then if Mykro sorts the rest out or vice versa you can learn from each other. There will be an equivalent for your Columbus 🤔. That database covers all mib2 firmware.

1447 AIO as you write I don't need to upload via M.I.B tools but normally from SD card as update? Do I understand this correctly?

And won't I make a brick infotainment if I upgrade from such old sw 0123 straight to sw 1447? I don't know how I would then explain to my son that I brick his infotainment !

Or you could do the staged approach of RCupra

Making 1447AIO the final stage.

@Chillout is the super - super expert in all of this. I suspect @mykro is quietly happy who plunged into the full update from 123.

The main thing is not to loose power during the update. All risk is down to you. I would take a copy of the screen settings before you start as I alluded to in that Ateca Cupra post so you know which image settings it's on. You should be able I suspect to edit them back in with VCDS / Obdeleven if it comes up with something different.

Yours is a mib2 standard, you have to stay within your train which is "4" since you are on 472 which means 479 is the latest available in the European hobbyist database. See:

Under firmware, MST2.

You read down the linked mibsolution page which gives 479 else you end up on a 5 train. That would mess your unit up if you jump trains with the standard unit. High units you can, the other conversation going on.

Read around the thread on updating. SD card. Fat32, engine running. Let it run thru.

Old standard maps, 915 you can use the workaround to update to the latest. See:

Perfect ! thank you. I'm going to do this in the coming days.
No risks of loosing some fonctionalities or other problems by updating the FW ?

Guys, thank you so much for the advice 😁 Today I finally decided to update to 1447 from 0123 on my son's Cupra and it's working 👍 Thank you so much. Just freaked us out that it got stuck in the start screen saying Seat! But in the end I think it was saved by OBDeleven entering a new key for the 5F module which I generated on mib-helper.com So once again thank you very much 👌.

Could have been the reboot. It clears the flag to say you have changed the firmware but generally it's not important, but the reboot you put it may have done the trick. See what the experts say. The main thing, it's working.
The infotainment restarted itself during installation but did not boot up fully and remained frozen in the start screen. So then I did the mentioned fix and manually restarted the infotainment again and then luckily it started up again 👍.
