Roughly 6 or 7 months ago id fitted a catch tank to the car and deleted the pcv system and didnt like it. Having to empty it weekly so that it didn't overfill and get drawn imto the turbo. So replaced all of the items of the pcv system and refitted it to the car. But left the catch tank in situ
Ive been checking it every 5 to 6 weeks and theres been nothing in there except a thin film of oil in the tank. Checked it the other day and theres about 1/2 a teaspoon of oil in there. No water and no funk, just oil.
Obviously made its way from the pcv,the rocker cover or both. No biggy. I estimate the car has done about 3k in this time.
So, im catching the oil in the vapour that passes through.
Should i leave the catch tank in place to catch the moisture or remove it and let it get sucked back in through the turbo?
Im thinking that maybe a thin film of oil covering the intake side maybe a positive thing to have for a little protection against dust etc that may get through? Fine particles may stick to the pipework rather than making it back into the engine.
Or leave it fitted to catch what it can?
Gotta say im happy with the pcv system. Im sure itll last the lifetime of the car now.
