It probably isn't relevant but my system is still running on 1790 and I haven't had any issues at all in a long time. The only thing that has cropped up from time to time is the acc and travel assist not being available in heavy rain. I'm guessing this is a common issue for most people??

My issues are regularly repeating (but haven’t figured out any particular cause).

A favourite is when the climate control settings completely stop working (tapping the capacitive buttons do nothing, and on-screen controls seem to register the button tap, and the temperature slider moves but the temperature set point stays the same (both visibly and actually). With heated seats again it recognises the button press but the red dots don’t appear and the seat does not heat. However, strangely, the voice command does produce an actual result but the screen does not reflect the change…

Others include:
- purple/pixelated CarPlay screen (fixed by going to car menu and back to CarPlay screen), this can happen every couple of minutes to several hours.

- random clicking sound that I can’t figure out (sounds like it’s somewhere in driver’s side - I’ve ruled out rattling objects), and another is the horrible double pop noise from speakers that sound like something hit the car with force.

- infotainment screen staying black for the duration of the journey.

- the “deleting user settings” pop-up with cancel / ok option

- climate control sync setting is only remembered for about 10 minutes or so?? Never across ignition cycles

- sometimes climate syncs to the left side

- kph speed limits

- preventing overtaking with ACC

(I think the above three could well stem from the same issue, there must be some initialisation/defaulting back to LHD settings for some reason or another, even randomly during the same drive session)

Those are the ones I currently recall, I’m sure there were more oddities!

That’s a long list of issues!
I had a few mainly related to switching between users so I decided to use one user profile and I can still use the memory seats with the key so there’s no need really for the second profile.

I also have the double popping sound, but I think it may be from behind the screen rather than the speakers?
I figured out that it happens when the car loses signal (world icon disappears.) I’ve heard this is linked with the ‘changing settings’ issue some people are having.

Are you on 1803?

I hope these issues will be smoothed out with a few more updates, but overall it’s manageable

Im on 1790 still. Dealer claimed they had updated software but it doesn’t look like they did.

Here's my latest adventure with ACC.

I joined M25 on J6, going anti-clockwise. No sign on slip road, car shows 110. Soon after, it changes to 70, but it still discovers car on the left and I have to override it every time I pass cars on my left and there's plenty of them.

Then, I left M25 to go on A21 towards Hasting. It's a very sharp bend. I was going to brake, but then saw a car in front of me and ACC started to slow me down. All great, except bend is so sharp, that radar lost sight of the car in front and started accelerating aggressively (Cupra mode). I had to brake heavily and hope I won't end up on my side. It's like Christine, lives its own life.

Continuing on A21, car switched between 70 and 110 couple of times. Then, when I left on a junction, it discovered 40 on a sign. All well, but then it switched to 60, to 40 and back to 60. There's 40 speed limit on that road. Not sure where 60 came from.

On a way back, it was a bit better, less confusion with speed limits and no sharp bends.

Interesting you mention the 40mph issue above. Volkswizard on YouTube has just released his latest video report on the Golf TCR, this lists the ACC problems we've all been experiencing. In particular he mentions the 40mph issue too. He's had contact from VW on Twitter on the this. Worth a watch (can skip to 5:10 for 40mph issue and 10:10 for the 'undertaking' issue')

The owner's manual specifically warns, with diagrams, that the ACC isn't always able to detect other vehicles on sharp bends.

In this video, he has setup ACC to adjust to speed limit. I would never do this. Also, you can see that sign symbol on a dash shows 70, and it's only the cruise, that changing speed. So it's a bit different problem, but probably similar source, confusion between km and miles. In my case, it's just road sign symbol that shows incorrect speed limit for no reason.

If Cupra keeps to the same software versions, there might be update in some time, but when? I have 17xx software version.

Looks like VWs suffer from the same issues and even more. At least this particular car in video. There must be plenty of VWs on the road, yet still no solution.

Yes, I was aware of that. Problem is, radar lost sight of the car in front of me already in the bend and because it was in Cupra mode, it started to accelerate aggresively, not leaving me a lot of time to brake. So it suggests, ACC shouldn't be used in any bends, just in case.

I'm not sure that's fair; to me, it suggests the system has limitations and that the driver should use their own judgement in each specific situation.

If it was standard cruise, I would brake, it would disengage and I would control the car. ACC slowed down, gave me false impression of being in control and then accelerated suddenly. So, isn't it easier just not to use it in bends, if you don't know the road? I started driving in Cupra all the time, to squeeze something out of the car, so ACC is in agressive mode all the time.

On the subject of software updates, I am curious how the process works. I assume the core firmware is exactly the same between all vehicles with a MIB3 unit of certain hardware revision, so these issues would go back to the original developers (Volkswagen in-house or a third party?) to be resolved, then subsequently distributed to software devs at each brand to be “re-skinned” with Audi or Cupra logos etc?

I just wonder that with the millions of vehicles out there that must share the same known issues, there has to be a significant driving force behind getting the firmware updated and out to customers…

Mine’s just done an over the air update this morning. Cant see anything changed, still cant log onto “tidal” via online services. I can’t really see the point of them whatsoever and the connected app is pretty useless as well.

Mine was in the process of an over the air update yesterday. I was on 1790, does anyone know if this update takes it to 1803?

Doubt it, the main software updates take hours and are normally dealer installs I believe.

Yeah just been out this morning to check still on 1790

If you want the v1803 it’s a visit to the dealer and leave your car with them for 4-5 hours.

All major updates (change of version number) are dealer installed ones.

All minor updates which fix minor bugs that you probably do t know you’ve got are OTA.

Cheers, not had any issues with the infotainment as such for a few months now so not in any rush to visit the dealer

Car went in today for 4 issues:
ACC slowing down for cars on left
Popping in speakers intermittently
Screen scrambling
🆘 appearing on dash

Was told the last 2 were linked.
Popping speakers known issue too as with ACC

Seat said they are awaiting a software update to rectify all of the above. Hoping for this to arrive in coming month but I sensed they weren’t really that sure.
Sorry to pick up an old message but this was the only thing I could find about the popping speaker.

Mine has started doing this today after 4 months of ownership.

Was it a simple fix?
