Paint is shocking. I'm planning on doing a full wire tuck and getting a mate to repaint the bay propperly later in the year once it's up and running. I've got loads of spare wiring i didnt want to chop out incase i needed it, not looking forward to extending the loom, but will be worth it. Spent too much time looking on vortex, now I can't stand the sight of wires in bays

Still waiting for the bloody exhaust flanges!

Finished the exhaust at last, it sits perfect, and is secure, just some parts look like shite! It's only going to be temp untill I get someone with the right tools to make me one! Started it up, just to hear the exhaust and check for any fault codes before the first run.

Sounded and smelt like crap! The exhaust is way too loud, and it sounded rough as feck, kinda as expected untill it's had a drive. Made it sound even louder being in an enclosed garage!

Had two fault codes, one about Evap open circuit, and one for SAI open circuit, so no worries there, will have a bash at getting rid of them before taking it for a spin, just to get the light out.

I also don't have a battery light, not at all??? Thinking it could be the alt signal wire, but not looked into it too much.

Onwards and upwards! Always loads more work than I think there is!

Evap and sai can be mapped out in my sai I've used a 330ohm 10w resistor don't get any eml light come up , Decat has been mapped on mine ,

Also Tim is from the uk yes not seen a build thread he's on FB and Instagram tho ,

Also how about this one ?

I thought i had done it tbh but obviouslt not well enough. Might explain what the loose plug i have that i cant find anywhere to put is lol...Do you know i the SAI wiring comes out from the same part of the loom as the injector wiring?

Those bays are epic. Short runner on an N/A engine, wonder how that performs?

Not fully on its wheels, its on blocks now, but you get the point...

Just realised that i put a resister on the SAI pump, and not on the valve that my code relates to......i'm guessing that that is the other wire that i have in my bay that i couldn't find a use for! Its a plug that comes off the wiring to the throttle body?

The wire that comes off the throttle body is for the heater that's in the stock tip/intake pipe , I've removed mine just cut the plug off and tapped the ends up doesn't need a resistor as it's only a live and earth , sai is a plug really low down by the oil filter ,
The Evap will always bring a code up even with a resistor I've not removed mine yet tho

Short runners on N/A produce more bhp but less ft lb mapping you defo need to get to R. T.... E...c he's done mine have launch control / no lift shift etc 269bhp 260ftlb and a liner throttle so no on and off like stock are and it flames

And **** me that camber is mental haha

I was very interested in doing this...an engine mount tuck. Using the mount set up from a mk3. But the more i look at it, it's just too much!

Do it now that looks amazing

One day. Next time the engine is out i will probably have a serous look at doing it, doesn't seem overly complex to do. I've been thinking about putting quick release connectors on everything as well...

Tucking is great, you can achieve a big difference for very little cost. It amases me that it doesn't seem to have caught on in the Seat world. People seem more interested in jamming MORE things in their engine bay

Finally got a decent bit of time on the car again. Ive been worried about taking it down the track to where my garage is as its full of potholes. So i fitted my sump guard.

I've also raised the car up quite a bit, as a temp measure whilst its in progress.

Next i drained as much fuel as i could from the tank, its been there over a year and is probably shot. filled it up with 10 liters of super duper 99 fuel, and mixed it around with the old fuel ,repeatedly priming the car to try and mix the fuel up a bit.

Then came the first test run! And feck me is it loud. Not awesome loud, its Like a drag car. Im going to have to sort it out with a bigger silencer.

I'm looking out for a second hand LCR cat back, as i think i could mod one to fit pretty easily. If anyone knows of one going...

Got it down teh drive way, and out for a short run. Honestly though, its running very rough, and occasionally it's not maintaining idle.
I have fault Code P0011

P0011 - "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)''

It sounded rattily on idle some times, so i am gong to change the chain tension, which could well be causing this problem.
But what is actually causing this fault, i've not really looked into yet. I thought it was enough for a day. And i was hungry.

It picks up fine around 2000rpm, and when its going it felt to pick up very well!

Plenty of work to do before MOT but this was a pretty big step.

I love tucking my wires, its so cheap and takes ages so its a great long term project. Just gotta be ballsy with the wire cutters !

fecking car.

The timing seemed to be pretty spot on, i decided to drop the chain and re fit it, just to check a few things out. Ive too kout the plugs, and plug 1 and 6 both have coolant on them. Down the hole you can see a few drops on the piston.

The tops of the plugs on those cylinders were rusted compared to the others, so i did wonder for while if there had been coolant sat down the plug hole, that had run down when i unscrewed them......however the jacks o each of those plugs have a rust coloring that the other 4 don't.

It seems pretty unlikely that a recently fitted head gasket would be gone at 1 AND 6. So it seems more likely that its the head that's fecked.

I'm undecided what to do but think i might strip the head off tomorrow and go from there.

Life lesson learnt: Never buy an engine from a smooth talking bloke from Birmingham

Amazing attention to detail, and a refreshingly no nonsense 'sod it I'll just have a go and see what happens' approach...

Love it!
