What did you and your MK2 do today?

Had a very busy weekend treating the car! Went crazy and bought some real carbon fibre pieces! Hell of a lot of money but worth it I think :) I also got the forge intercooler fitted.
Badges/Rear diffuser/Mirror caps.

Then she went on a weight loss diet ahead of my upcoming track day! And to top it off I got 4 new Toyo R888 semi slicks for it too :D

On a sad note though, sold my Golf yesterday :( Any ideas what to get next as a reliable daily driver? Has to be diesel which is cheap to run :)

How much did the Forge set you back?

How come you sold the golf ben?

No reason really, just fancied a change plus it was due a major service/cambelt plus new disks and pads all round and it could have done with 2 new tyres in a few thousand miles, which would cost over a grand for all of it. So I figured it would be less expensive to just get a new car anyway. I listed it on autotrader just to test the water and I had a phone call within 24 hours and he came and drove it away :( I would have happily kept it though.

Hi Ben,
Carbon fiber is just so right, will be amazing on the car
See also that you have the Toyo R888 tires, what dimension will you run?

I hope so, need some good weather to fit it all :D Tyres are 235/35/R19

It was up for £600 but I managed to get it for 540 and my friendly mechanic fitted it for a crate of magners... took him about an hour. Not drove it yet so I don't know how much difference it has made. Will probably see tha gains when I go stage 2+ in a few weeks when I fit the decat :) Arsehole of a job though, driveshafts have to come out!

Got this on Friday...

...And fitted it today. Had to go spend £30 at Halfrauds so I had the right sockets - stoopid VAG cars. Took her out on a private road and there is a difference, although my damn tyres are rubbing under hard cornering. Also, I went over a speed bump and heard a slight 'clunk' from the rear - I've put it down to having a thicker and stiffer bar, anyone else heard the same thing with this on?

I'm also getting very peeved at my gears 'sticking'. The car doesn't come out of gear as easily as it should and it needs a second bite of the cherry to get it out and into the higher/lower gear. Could this be an alignment issue or something more serious...?

Its hard to see from the pictures but are there locks either side of the bushes, to stop the bar sliding through it? The clunk is the bar sliding through the bushes/mounts. If not, you need a lateral lock kit. I went for the whiteline ARB because they were included with the bar but you can buy them on their own, ableit expensive! See below :)

It has the locks mate. Drove it this morning and the clunks and creeks are worse...

Strange, did you put plenty grease on the bushes? The only other thing it could be are the droplinks

Yep, put tons of silicone grease on.

I was wondering about the droplinks - is it possible to overtighten them? Surely they aren't broken after 20k - although stranger things have happened....

Slight update. Just spoken with Ed at APS and we reckon i've done my usual trick of overtightening the 'D' bracket that holds the bushes. Ed reckons this will stop the bar from rotating as it should and putting pressure on the droplinks which is causing the 'clunk'.

I'm feeling those skirts. From the pics it doesn't look to 'In your face'.

Where did you get them from?

Personally I think the way the splitter gloss black colour continues into the side skirt, then tapers off is absolutely brilliant. It mates it more balanced
