Exhaust hanger bar snapped so a garage zip ties the exhaust up so I can get home.

Can't get the part in it's own by the looks of it which was annoying but managed to get someone I know in a design and technology dept to weld it back together with an added brace ?

Had my intake ports cleaned for the first time (68500k), engine started and ran fine with none of the usual symptoms of valve build up, but it was bad.

Now much more responsive and more power.

I had the walnut blasting done at Dukes Park Automotive, they are in Chelmsford. They gave me a loan car at no extra cost as they need most of the day (engine has to cool down), excellent service.

New to the MK2 forum, had the car just over a year. 2.0 TFSI FR.

Since buying the car I have done:
  • New Spark Plugs (NGK)
  • New Coils (R8)
  • Cam Follower
  • Evap Purge Valve
  • PCV valve (Old one had split at the diaphragm)
The car has just been in for a minor service and MOT this week. While there I got the inlet valves cleaned and the thermostat changed. They showed me before after pictures and the results were amazing. Definitely notice the difference when driving it, very smooth and also doesn't feel as lumpy at idle. Probably the first time its been done at 94k. Also the thermostat was definitely faulty, used to see it drop to 60 degrees when cruising at around 50-60mph. The car now warms up to 90 within a few mins and stays there.

Still need to figure out my Evap issue. Purge valve didn't sort it, going to try a new charcoal canister and see if that sorts it  Also I have a new set of front wings to fit, to replace the rusty ones.

Seemingly you can't buy new covers, very popular second hand as well so most sellers know a decent condition wheel is worth a good few quid.
Only held on by four T10 Torx screws so I decided to try re-painting it.

Not perfect by any means, but will run it for now and if needs be it can always come off again for a second attempt.

I think the charcoal canister sorted it. Havent had the light/code since fitting a nearly new unit. From what I've read on forums it's either the purge valve, charcoal canister, fuel cap seal or cracked breather pipe from the canister. Apparently overfilling when fuelling can cause issues.

I checked the cap seal and the breather pipe first, then bought a new purge valve as it was cheaper and then eventually bought a charcoal canister. Thankfully I found an almost new second hand one for £15 delivered otherwise they are £100+ new from the dealer.

Also wrapped my wing mirror covers. Really didn't like the chrome ones on the car.

Spent the day giving my Mk2 Cupra a serious clean ready for her trip to AMD on Friday for pampering and goodies lol. Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Started painting parts of the engine bay for a bit of flair under the hood. Air intake covers done so far - currently working on the fuse box cover.

Waiting for a new engine cover to arrive after accidentally melting the previous one during curingin the oven...

I fitted front and rear 24mm whiteline adjustable anti roll bars today worth every penny. Just need to change gearbox oil and service the car next week after work and fitted my ad08rs tyres and that’s it for the year will start getting the parts for stage2+ in the new year now I’ve sorted the suspension, brakes and powerflex bushes out.
