James, over on audisport they are organising a group buy on pro race 1.2's
You can specify colour, offset and spigot size and PCD
Have a look at those as they are lightweight wheels
I know what you mean about cams too, i keep looking at them and the huge stated gains, guinea pig car?

Yer, nobody here has put a set of the IE cams in their car yet. I could well be the first, should have a set mid Nov time. Very impressive claimed gains.

£150 iirc for engine undertray

And the rest :(

Was thinking about getting a set of Pro Race 1.2 myself but in the 9x18 fitment. Here is Paul at Jtech car rolling in them in et25 and 3 degrees camber up front

I've seen the offer available on ASN but I can't seem to find a definitive price for the 18"?? Have you seen it?

I'm also not sure if I like these wheels enough to put them on my car. Are you def going for a set?

When I last checked they were trying to get interest and then go back for a price based on numbers. They are not cheap wheels. I did like the pro race on this car but its because they are 9j wide. The 8j wide wheels don't look right in my opinion

Best site to use is willtheyfit.com. Standard wheels are 7.5" wide, et38. Then put in the new wheel dimensions to get a rough idea how the wheel will sit I.e. will you have loads of poke etc.

Il send some pics of the 8" and 9" wide pro race and you will see what I am talking about. For this style of wheel the 9" wide only look good in my opinion of course

New Project???

Gents,

Been looking at getting myself a new project car to keep me busy over the next 18 months - 2 years. Still in the VAG range but want to get something 4WD and build it to 600+ HP.

I've been looking at MK5 R32's in Deep Blue Pearl, I want something with the Recaro leather interior and Xenon headlights and a few other of the factory options. I've had a look at some very nice examples on R32OC and they are not a lot of money for what you get.

A link to something similar to what I want

http://www.r32oc.com/index.php?/topic/43737-MK5.-2007-'57'-VW-GOLF-R32-DSG.-54,000m-EVERY-FACTORY-OPTION../page__view__findpost__p__456829

I've done a bit of homework into the modifications required to get a car like that upto 600-700HP range.

Shortlisted 'mods' list.

HTA GT3582R Turbocharger
Custom Tubular Exhaust Manifold (44mm External Wastegate)
Custom Downpipe
JE Pistons 85mm 8:5:1 Compression
Connecting Rods
Calico Main & Big End Bearings
ARP Main Studs
ARP Head Studs
Full Valvetrain
Port & Polish Head
Custom Intake
Custom Charge Pipe
Custom Intercooler & Pipework
1000cc Injectors
Uprated Fuel Pump
Boost Controller
Custom ECU Remap
Gearbox Remap

These are the basics, one thing i'm not to sure on yet is the internals of the gearbox, expecially the DSG gearboxes. Will need to investigate this further.

I won't be getting rid of the Leon and there are a few things that I want to do to the Leon over the winter so in the meantime going to keep an eye out for a decent R32.

Rods and pistons are fine up to big power gaz jones is running 500+ on standard internals just the big end bearings changed , he's running a GT35 the kit is 10k plus fitting gear box is just over 1k to refurb with the longer ratio then upgraded suspension and brakes are a must so another 2500 odd depending on what set up so for another 15odd k plus the cost of the car you could have big power R32 a lot more usable than the Leon

Do it

I understand what your saying but I like doing things properly, If i'm going to try and push over 600HP out of an engine I want to make sure that the money I've spent won't end up being blown all over the road.

Brakes the logical option is the ECS porsche kit at £1500 and then probably £1K for coilovers as you say.

Can't seem to find much info about the DSG internals online, all i know is 208MPH would be epic!
