LCR Big Brakes

Ok, So been having a bit more of an 'in depth' look into big brake kits that would suit my car.

I REALLY fancy some filthy big porsche cayenne brakes and it appears they come in various flavors;

1. 'Normal' Cayenne 2003 - 2010 - 330mm Rotor
2. Cayenne 'S' 2003 - 2010 - 350mm Rotor
3. Cayenne Turbo 2003 - 2007 - 350mm Rotor
4. Cayenne Turbo 2008 - 368mm Rotor
5. Cayenne Turbo 2009 - 2010 - 380mm Rotor

Here is a picture of some different calipers.

I really want the BIG ONES :D

I'm not really sure of how much work is involved in making these fit on a MK4 platform with 5x100 PCD but it wouldn't give me some decent stopping power :D Secondly, not sure if ANY of them fit under the standard LCR alloys or if they would fit under any 18" wheels at all.

I have also had a look at the K-Sport brake kits which you can apparently fit the 356mm kit under the LCR alloys.

Decisions, Decisions.

It appears that the Audi Q7 might have a suitable calipers as well, it runs a 6 pot with smaller pistons than the Porsche caliper which should in theory give a firmer pedal feel. These also come up a LOT cheaper than the porsche calipers but aren't official porsche obviously (boooo!)

what about lamborghini brakes? Audi own them so they might be interchangeable (wishful thinking)

I've got cayenne 6 pots on mine (the ones on the left in the pic) you can mate them with r32 discs and just buy adaptors from eBay as well as a few forum members on r32oc iirc

Pedal travel is certinally longer than oem but they just keep performing consistently trying to pull your face off ;)

I'm sure money has to be factored into what brakes upgrades might be available, but the Forge 6-pot 358mm kit seems to get very reviews. They even do 6 pot 330s if wheel clearance is an issue.

Hope the car's still running well? :)

Hibernation

Well the time has come to put the car into hibernation and not a moment too soon looking at the weather we have had this week. Will TRY and give the car a good wash and get it up on axle stands this weekend and it probably won't be coming out again much before March time.

I've got a list of jobs to do over the winter depending on funds which are

  1. Caliper upgrade
  2. Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller
  3. Integrated Engineering 1.8T Street Cams & Gear
  4. New LCR front bumper as mine is F'd
  5. New LCR undertray and fixings (£££££ :( )

I have been in contact with PorscheCalipers.co.uk with regards to refurbing a set of Cayenne Turbo calipers that I have found on the web, I have also had a look at the Q7 calipers which are an option for me at the moment. Depending on price will depend on what I go for, the K-Sport kit comes out at £1200 (ish) including discs and pads and I think that the set of Porsche or Q7 calipers will work out considerably cheaper, if not I will go for the K-Sports.

Apexi AVC-R for obvious reasons, would really like the gear limited boost control.

After having a look at the IE cams they look SICK, no other word for it. Got a relative going to the US in november so might treat myself to a set then and get him to bring them back with him.

I have also been looking at getting a new set of alloys but still haven't decided. I have seen these on ED38 but can't decided if I think they would suit my car. Obviously need a refurb.
