I'm not dead. Just been side tracked/completely lost faith in this forum for one/many reasons. And the cold weather pushed me into my other hobbies. Anyway, the recent spell of warm-ish weather has kicked me back on track. I shall be ordering most of the parts i need to get the engine mounted up withing 2 weeks. Currently i have done a final coat of white primer, and i shall be painting the bay this weekend. I am going to be doing it slightly different than before, but i wont say untill i do it as i will probably change my mind yet again.

Now, a lot I thought has gone into colour choice. And I did want to do it pink again, but the only way I would be happy with pink is if it was über shiny and mega perfect smooth. I don't have the patience to make it mega smooth, and to get the mega shine I want, the kind of paint and laqure I would need to use, would kill me if I sprayed it in my garage. There are a lot of are out there with perfect smooth shiny engine bays, that has had hundreds of hours put in by body shops. I cannot compete with that, and don't want to look like a poor attempt at imitation. I would rather have an awesome Mat black engine bay, than a shitty not quite up to par pink engine bay. Still, the engine bay will not all be so subtle, and I have plans for some lairy colour in there yet.

Finally moved my engine from work to, no one around at home so I couldn't get it out my boot, so I ended up working on it there! Got the lower timing chain fitted and the new oil pump/drive fitted. Yes the piston crowns look mega dirty, because of the strong light, I did clean them!

I have also pressed the new crank seal in, and will be fitting the timing cover as soon as i remember to bring my torque wrench home!

been side tracked/completely lost faith in this forum for one/many reasons.

Can't think why(!) Judging by the last thread you made. Had a good chuckle to myself on reading :)

Cars coming along beautifully. Nice to see the pink gone too. Its all well and good having insane colours.... but the emphasis surely should be on the engine. *subscribed* Will look forward to the build, and don't lose faith. The good guys are still in here :D

Yes, spoke for its self i guess! To many internet mechanics giving advice on subjects they have no knowledge about/there mate had a vauxhall that had the same symptoms so it must be the same fault! Anyway, that's the past...

Yes, as for the colour, i want to turn the cars immage totally around, from that of a 'show car' to one that looks used, abused, and completely function over form.

New style for the car sounds interesting mate, looking forward to see whats gonna happen.

Not such a fan of the black bay but i get why you done it.

I feel exactly the same! But needs must, having an imaulate engine day is a pain in the ass. A friend of mine does, and to work on it is such a chore!

glad to see this back on track mate i know how you feel on the engine bay front and loosing motivation over winter i half done my bay took all the sealer off then decided not to fully flush it as it'll have about 400hp in there soon so it'll probably crack sooner or later and being a panel beater it really is a chore as i do it day in day out,

also i hate what your on about people butting in ive had alot of people (mainly mates who think they work for porsche but have no clue) jumping in and telling me im doing this wrong /that wrong and its got to the point i can not work on my car unless im on my own as i cannot deal with people telling me how to do things (rant over)

good luck with the build mate id much rather a used and abused car that is capable of 10k miles a year and looks good over a 1.3 show car golf anyday :thumbup::thumbup:
