very nice car,i have a red one on a 2006 plate which is pretty rare,29500 miles am looking to sell it but need an idea of how much i should be asking

Thanks dude!

Yeah the 2006 models are rare and thats a very low millage motor you got there. I'd look on pistonheads and auto trader to get an idea on how much they sell for. Off the top of my head I would say around £7.5k.

It's proving to be very difficult to sell cars these days. Just got to be patient unfortunately. Make sure you advertise it everywhere, there's a for sale section for cars on this forum, make sure you put it up once your able to (need to have posted a set minimum amount to gain full access). Also recommend other VAG forums like vagoc.co.uk, edition38 ******.com and any other you find. Good luck with selling!

Clutch Update

After some extensive research and a lot of thinking I made a decision on what clutch option to go for. I decided to go for a up-rated clutch and a single mass flywheel combo. Although my flywheel is most likely in perfect working condition I didn't want to risk it and thought I might as well do it properly.

Que the Awesome GTI Clutch kit (Awesome Heavy Duty Sprung Clutch & Solid Flywheel - 6 speed 1.9 TDI / 1.8T). So far I have only seen great reviews of this kit. There are cars running over 400lb/ft torque with this clutch and they are all loving it hence why I believe it is the perfect option for my needs. When I spoke to Al at Awesome he gave me a lot of reassurance with this kit. There are three bonus sides to it also:
  • Price: a very wallet friendly £625 for such a heavy duty clutch
  • Feel: seems that it is not far off from the standard clutch feel so using it as a daily should be all good
  • Noise: according to them and the reviews there is no chatter noise like usual single mass flywheels (not that it bothers me if it did)
There were a few people asking how much the flywheel weighed. Well after waiting a week for it to arrive I weighed the flywheel which is 10.4kg. The car is booked at the garage tomorrow to have it fitted so once I get the OEM dual mass flywheel I will weigh that also to see what the difference is.

Whilst enquiring about the clutch I also decided to see about getting a forge quick shifter at the same time. Awesome did me a very nice deal for both so thought I might as well :) I know a few people with these and they all rate them highly.

Hoping to get this fitted sometime over the weekend if I get a chance. Got a few other bits to do also, like fitting my LED sidelights which are currently just sitting in my bedroom!!! Car also needs a clean as its a absolute state, hasn't been washed since November..............yikes

Will do indeed mate. Looking forward to getting the car back to full strength. Boring driving these cars when they are not running 100%

And there's another thumbs up for the quick shifter :D

Yeah I need to get my camera out to take the pics to show how bad it is. Never been so dirty :ban:

Great looking kit as discussed recently with you mate, and you'll love the short shifter, I love mine ;)

Looking forward to your review of this clutch setup as if it's decent I'll most likely get it later in the year :)

If the car is filthy, bring it round mine at some point over the weekend I'll do it!

Cheers mate, will take you for a spin so you can see for yourself once it's all bedded in (still owe you a drive to show you the brake setup lol).

Iv just been so busy lately it's mad and whenever I get time to sort the car it's bloody pissing down or something comes up. Will sort it ASAP though don't you worry. Need it back to the standard of the group ;)

Sounds good to me mate :) I might have my new brake setup by the time we do get round to that drive, but then again mine will take months to bed in the amount I drive my car, lol. Recent MOT that I just got through showed I've done 3,100 miles in 12 months... no wonder she's never really dirty ;)

I'm sure she'll be back upto standard soon mate! I want mine running at a good standard again. We're all striving bud..
