It doesnt really matter what it "should" be running mate.. as long as its making decent power & doesnt pull high cf's :D
If your airflow is being utilized I dont think you will make much more without wmi.

I think your right I have maxed this setup out without Wmi. Next step bt lol one day, one day

that is low overall timing.. but clearly all your engine wants (forged pistons yea?)
maybe slightly noiser engine mechanically which is what is setting the knock sensors going)

what would you consider good timing advance or acceptable timing advance for a hybrid or any other tuned car without wmi, provided the cf's aren't excessive. I think i recall seeing 15's on mine at the red line.

Cheers bill I think your right it's all it want and yer 1.9 forged je pistons. So would make sense that it's noisier cars making good g/s and feels rapid. So I shouldn't worry

on smallport (or ported smallport) low to mid teens in timing at 6krpm seem "normal"
largeports, we can run higher to 24 degrees and low teens under boost, where smallports dip into single digit timing usually @ same rpm/boost

Bill are you saying that its noisier becuase of the pistons, or its noisier becuase it has been rebuilt.
I find it very hard to believe that the pistons alone are playing havoc with the knock sensors.. after all the standard items are forged..
We found out that cylinder 1 & 2's knock sensor was actually in the wrong boss and torqued incorrectly with paint on the boss face, but Joe sorted this out and still it made hardly any difference.

Joe do you know if all the tollerences were checked when it got rebuilt?

Yer cam to cam timing was all spot on.
The only thing I can think is one knock sensor had brown plug the other black maybe new ones would fix this.
My only worry is if I ever go bt I will have issue with making crap power
Hybrid is ok maxed out really

rebores are subject to the machining tolerance, and the likes of JE's for example are bigger clearances than stock pistons.. so some more "noise" is possible.
Same goes for uprated engine mounts coupling engine vibration into the knock sensors which is interpreted as "knock" when its vibration noise. Had this in an extreme example on an R32 turbo I dyno'd a couple of weeks ago. Horrendous CF of 15's.

you are making normal power for hybrid tho. Pretty good in fact without wmi on board.
smallports imho suk when it comes to decent timing... even ported ones wont support what boggo largeports will by some big margin.

im really happy with what ive got thats me done for hybrids i love it when im bored going bt one day.

this hybrid made 280bhp with its additional timing from wmi tweaks
