Corner weighting aswell - great stuff. This car will be wired!

Looking forward to the pics of the battery relocation and that infamous cone when that turns up. Will you be logging airflow with it on vagcom bud?

Relocation update

Monday afternoon i popped over to see mr phill and we set about the task of getting the battery out of the bay.
Didnt seem too big a job until you hit the point of no return, say no more

Then the amount of interior that has to be removed is quite a lot too
Here is phill after i told him there was a celine dion CD in the glove box (or maybe he was just removing it, take your pic?)

With cable ran through phill started on the distribution block and i set about wiring the kill switch and mounting the box into the boot

Not many pictures towards the end in the evening as it was dark and needed a few bits sprucing up, but it lived!

After being home from work early the last few days i have set about finishing it off
The bay with the gapping hole, hmmm. wonder what i could fill that with later?

Side view to see how much room it trakes up
16032011115.jpg

Then a new ground terminated in the boot and all cabling out of site, a quick trim of the boot carpet and viola

Then put the seats back in and a nice custom install finished
Probably the only leon to run an inline kill switch but i think its a nice little touch
Anyway the front end is noticably lighter and will need some adjustment on the coilovers to set this properly again.
Cranks fine but the extra cable length is obviously draining the battery more and can be seen on the cluster lights when starting but all in all a good job
Hats of to phill though as it would have taken me absolutely ages otherwise

Staining looks worse on the photos, barely noticeable in the flesh and its not what you think it is either
I know its sad when you laugh at your own jokes but that pic of you furtling around the glovebox makes me laugh

Nice battery relocation, i am very very interested in doing this, don't suppose you have a list of cable and stuff needed for the wiring?

Also where did you run the wires through the cabin?

There is a small channel that most of the electrics run down on the passanger side which the cable can be run in, this easily allows to the grommet behind scuttle and through rear seatbelt cover into boot
If you dont want to pay lots for car power cable due to its increased cost look into machine power cable at about 20-25mm square
I used Radox cable used in CNC machines and solar power installs, also can take high spikes in current where it would have DOL motors which is ideal for intial cranking
I think the isolator is also a nice touch too.
Dont forget to get some cable lugs too
