Well here's some more info...

The setup now seems to have "outgrown" the S3 injectors...

I'm contemplating running the RS4's to see how the car reacts.

Exciting stuff.

I grilled loba about their output on this turbo saying that in the UK we are already seeing 360-370hp cars.

Their reply:

we just give the turbos a number to give people a idea of what could be achieved rather the st 1 or stg 5 that means nothing, is a modest number we feel as some make more than turbo is numberd , is bad in some ways as some think just bolt on said number turbo and ill get that number, is not the case as most know it depends on your cars spec.

There is currently a development ed30 in germany I think. So far made 370ps and running a prototype loba fuel pump.

370hp on a german dyno/software is good. Ive never seen a german company advertise over 340hp on a k04!

Well at first looking at the photos i thought this was a different/better
factory turbo from possibly the newer cars, but then i saw the clipped
turbine wheels and my mind immediately went to "modified"....

I really think these companies are missing the point. Why would you want to
spend an extra 1000 € for a "new" turbo just to get a modified version that
will (hopefully) give you an extra 20-40 bhp ?There is a limit to how much money can and should be spent on a modified OEM turbo, when reliability is
most surely effected, and with almost the same amount you could get a
GT 3071 and go 100 bhp over...

Looks like a good design on the compressor wheel, (new extended tip and all) but i don't think someone would spend that money for an extra (claimed) 40 bhp...And without a swap option...

I would have thought people are over the hybrid by now...

I mean for that amount of money you can have a full 3071R setup and make more than
450 crank hp....

I believe all these companies haven't grasped the idea of a hybrid, which is to get a bit of extra
power from YOUR turbo without paying for a NEW turbo...

Now now Jason - share the knowledge!

Is this the LO380 K04 turbo kit they (badly) advertise on their website or is this something new?

Does this require a special LOBA fuel pump?

Agree with GolfRS; needs to be priced correctly in the market place. Punters aren't stupid...

Not sure of all the ins and outs you would have to contact MRC for that. But ye its the loba 380

But on MRC dyno they claim max 340hp with stage 2 plus k04 so you get a 50hp gain with this hybrid it seems plus earlier spool and higher top rev range power holding.

I think this upgrade is best for people who need to replace knackered OEM turbos, or those on a k03.

There is no way in HELL you can get 50 bhp more from such "minor" mods.

The K04 compressor is around 47mm and 60mm and this is stated as 48.5 and 63
True it has the new style "extended tip" design, but clipping the exhaust wheel is
laughable to say the least especially when done by a TUNER....

And once again...the price ???? :lol::lol::lol:

Never called anyone Mickey Mouse.

I just said there are limits to what a turbo can and cannot make.

Cliping the wheel reduces backpressure, but also destroys the turbines efficiency.

Also the K04 wheel is already a billet one, and increasing its size by 1 mm can't make
an extra 50 bhp.

In either case, as i said there are kits out there that can make more than 450 bhp
or even (as someone above said as "OEM replacements") the same bhp with much less
stress and effort...

My own experiences of the APR stage 3 kit is that its laggy, and slower than stage 2 plus k04 untill past 130mph

MRC quote 390hp on their rollers, and statlers/giac claim 400hp with their hybrid setup!
