Correct me if I'm wrong but the fastest K04 time of the day was a 13.5 iirc, that was DomT with a fully tricked out S2+ car..

Point is, there was ice and frost on the ground..

I don't feel I wasted my time at all.. And no, the car as sold in full big turbo trim and is still running great to this day..

the next point is, JC had pretty much every top end handling mod available, with top end tyres MUCH wider than stock. iirr they were R888s @ around 255 wide and to be fair they would have been upto temp after a quick burnouts at the beginning the fact that you still couldnt put power down, just goes to show how much of a waste of time it is to go past stage 2+ k04 power in a FWD

When driving, you are not ALWAYS going from a standing start to 120mph as quickly as possible... Take into account the numerous times you will go to put your foot down in 3rd or 4th gear. This is where the car will do most of its full throttle acceleration right? This will also be where the BT will pay dividends over a Stage 2+ K04.

Also, I think we're all dismissing FWD a bit... its not as bad as at used to be, in fact the whole VAG FWD platform has moved forward in strides over the past couple of years! I mean just look at the Scirocco R. It has a floorplan which would happily accomodate 4WD however VW specifically chose not to bother. Their Scirocco based race car that did very well at the 24hr Nurburgring race also put 300hp only through the front wheels. Yeh ok, BT we're talking between 100-200bhp over and above this but you MUST remember that the wheelspin inducing torque at the low end of the rev range which affects K04 Stage 2+ cars is REDUCED with a BT car.

Big horsepower DOES NOT CAUSE WHEELSPIN, big torque at low speeds does.

Was speaking to Christian at The Phirm today, he mentioned your Ed30 when I was asking him about cars that they look after. He said the car is still running spot on and that the owner pops in now and again for a chat and a biscuit lol. The guys at The Phirm seem pretty sound generally tbh :)

I must admit that now the crappy weather is starting to come, any thing below 3rd gear is a waste of time now, even in the dry!!! I have recently changed from PS2's to PS3's on the front and can't say i'm overly impressed TBH. When they are the same tread deapth as the the rears (PS2's) I think i'm going to swap round and see which I feel is better. At the min I would say the PS2's..
Anyone else made the change from PS2's to PS3's?

surprised at that.

Had two mates who had fully modded CTR's up until last year mate had a mk1 type R and spend a few grand on modifying it. as in full decat exhaust system, different ECU etc. he stopped short of doing the supercharger conversion.

My vRS at stage 1 was ever so slightly quicker than his fully modified type R(about 240hp iirc), at Stage 2 it was noticeably faster, and stage 2+ it annihilated him big style, it used to destroy him, in every gear from every speed increment without fail. Plus even with full coilovers mine was more comfy than his stock suspension lol. He now runs the new vRS TSI, and the other guy has now got an EVO.

I'm suprised at that mate.. A well set up 240bhp CTR with a decent driver should run rings around a Stage 1 vRS IMO. Same power, but a good 250kgs lighter..
Problem with a lot of CTR's is the thing behind the wheel. There's soooooo many numptys out there that can't drive them properly..
Managed a 14.5 1/4 in mine when stock!!!

they are only quick when your are ragging the tits off them though. plus a mapped TFSI has a large torque advantage. mine wasnt just peaking at 240Hp though, power plateaued at 240hp from 5k-6.5k, to be fair to it, though it was the in gear times where the vRS definitely had the legs, in a straight blast it was a lot closer, but he had to really rev his, whereas with a the tfsi you can afford to drive it lazy and let the torque do the work

It was running 280 n/a ponies, quickest type r around without forced induction.

was that AMDs rollers like the 360Hp stage 2 output:D

i remember jabbaluke saying that was in on their rollers having a new map applied by them amongst other things to do with fueling that needed uprating then

In gear times the TC car is always going to have better results (unless it's caught low revs with lag). But my point was that if it were a balls out/straight line comparison, then I would have my money on the CTR without a doubt. Like you say though, they do have to be driven hard to get 100% from them..

I have to say that having come from a 470hp 4wd where traction was absolutely no problem - down to a 200hp fwd - I had forgotten how bad traction was on fwd. I can't even imagine what the car would be like with 300hp never mind 400hp. Hats off to you guys but I don't think I could live with it. I have decided against modding my FR and will be moving back to 4wd at some point in the future.

in all honesty, you learn to drive around it, fo instance short shifting from 1st to second and letting the torque pull you through etc

This time of year forget it, even the TT can spin up a bit in 2nd with this weather.

Summer though completely different story, and a stage 2 plus cupra will be neck and neck with your old s4 if rolling from 30

No updates as of yet but someone could always eail backdraft alex and see how hes doing.

So looks like its possible.

Have read stuff such as, "made my stage 2 plus car feel like a micra".

Who will be the first?

Id better hurry and get to 500hp otherwise k04s will be beating me again

Poverty M8, was it you that went past me in the Dartford Tunnel a few weeks back... I was in my Blue 350Z...

Sure it was a brand new white TT RS
